GT2 Pricing right now (02 car)

We have the option of buying a 02 GT2 with 1169 miles on it. What should this car sell for? Right now on AutoTrader several are listed in the 135k range. Is this good or bad?

The plan would be to "flip" this car. Buy and and sell it, maybe do a few upgrades.

Thoughts?

Just trying to get a ballpark on what to expect to pay for it.

wholesale price is right around 115,000+- depends on miles, year & condition of course. so u figure retail is around 125,000 for a 02. the price seems to be holding at what's at now for awhile. since i sold mine i haven't seen they drop much. it's probably not a good car to ''flip'' since the 997TT is coming out soon. i doubt the price will go down more but it'll be less people looking for it for sure. being a 02 i wouldn't pay more than 125k. good thing is it has really low miles. too bad the owner doesn't enjoy it before he sells it. wonderful car.

The price should be between $125k and $130k for that color combo & miles.

With only 300 or so cars out there, it seems that the GT2 market is only going to get stronger.

THe 997 TT intro will have no effect, because knowledgeable buyers (and drivers) will have no interest in the AWD of the TT versus the GT2.

Now a 997 GT2 that would make a difference, but there is no such car yet ( and unlikely to be in NA). The poor sales of the 996 GT2 in NA have probably killed any chance of it coming here, if introduced (IMO).

It seems as some have tried all the rest and are coming back to the GT2, and for good reason. Again, this car was always seriously under-rated and subject to many myths.

If the recent posts are any indication the interest is growing.

Prices will vary based upon location (East, West or Middle) mileage, mods, color, stories etc. I like Fabryce's number, it could be the start of a trend!

I agree with everything you said above.

We are performing a LOT of 2 wheel drive conversions on 993/996 TT's and 993 C4S'. Nothing like dropping over 100lbs out of your car for a couple of grand. 4 wheel drive is good for ice and snow.. not much of that here in SoCal.

I also like Fabryce's price

We are charging 14 hours total. This includes aligment and cornerweighting of the car. It runs about 1k in parts. The last C4S we did ran right under 2k total with used shifter/linkage/tranny nose cone.

Here is the key in CA:

When you smog an all wheel drive car here.. they just rev the engine with no load to 3k rpm. They dont have 4 wheel dyno's here. So.. if your VIN shows up as 4 wheel drive.. they only sniff the car. Build whatever engine/turbo setup you want on a 4 wheel drive VIN and yank all the weight out. Tune it to unleash hell after 3k RPm (not quite that simple, but close)

Hmmm not bad, im sure it would bring the performance and driving experience level up so damm much.. That's one thing im missing from my 530+ hp sc m3 and this AWD beast, the fun factor?!? I thought AWD would be so much more fun, well it does indeed put every drop of power down but it gets bland

FYI: some of the above info was for a 993. The 996 shifter stuff doesnt change (its all cable operated) You also dont have the big honking center torque tube like a 993.

Your 996 center diff is bigger/weighs more however than the 993.

To answer your question above:

It is pretty labor intensive. Figure 5 hours for removal of front diff. Book calls for 5.3 The 996 is a tad easier than the 993. The 993 steering rack has to come down and out of the way to get the diff out. The 996 rack is easier to get in and out (20minutes)

Our TT customers couldnt figure out why we were beating them at the track in a normally aspirated 3.8L 993. Um.. it weighs less.. a lot less..

4wheel drive is great for the Alps.

996 Turbo minus the front drivetrain does NOT equal a GT2. You have to retrofit all the suspension parts from the Mk.1 GT3 including hubs, wheel carriers, etc. etc.
