Considering a 2004 996 turbo cab
Overall seems ok but the down side is the soft top
it have some fluff grains in certain parts and the owner said it is due to the rubbing action during the retreating process
Any ways to renew the soft top apart from replacement?
what is the cost a new soft top, if no other solution
Thx

A soft top replacement in HK is about the same price of 1 sq mm of down town property in HK leased for 10 years.
Seriously, contact a top shop in HK, good quality tops are available aftermaket. A little chaffing is no cause for replacement. It's inevitable where the top folds. Think of the top as protection from rain or inclement weather.

I own a 04 tt Cab. Not sure what you define as "fluff grains", but the soft top does get scuffed a bit from normal use. The Raggtop product mentioned helps clean and make the top more repellent to rain, tree sap, birds, etc. I use it all the time.
My top is slightly scuffed in a few spots from normal use, but it doesnt compromise the looks of the car, and certainly not the performance. I think they are great cars and if the only thing wrong with it is the soft top, then I would still potentially buy it if the price was fair and look for a replacement top if it is needed.
Not too sure how much a replacement top costs, but i would guess that a shop would charge in the range of $5,000 to replace the top.

Thx to you all
No leakage
Just comestic issue
Any practical shop in hk recommended? Perhaps those companies which help dealers of 2nd hand cars may know how to renew it at a minimal cost...
