Worth it...
Worth it...
To buy a salvaged 996TT. The person is a close friend and also has his body shop, so if anything goes wrong, he can/will fix it. And he does an amazing job on his cars, i have seen first hand.
But will it be worth it?

Your friend with the body shop owns the car? How come it's salvaged? If he owns it, and has the ability to repair it at cost, why not do it himself, rather than give you a smokin' deal?
Is there body damage? What about the mechanicals? If they crap out, what will your friend do about it?
We'll need more background before we can think it through.

again... it's only worth it if you are spending so much less than a comparable one. So it you are talking an 03 that would sell for 70k, then would you be able to get this car for $35-$40k?
remember when you want to sell this car there would not be alot of people that would want to purchase it because it has a salvage title, unless the price is right again

Better be d-i-r-t cheap...thing will be very hard to unload. How 'bout parting it out from the interior and using the gutted car as a track car project?
If it's to be used as a street car, another issue is whether it's been repaired to take a hit properly another day. Not worth saving some bucks to then risk your a$$ if the car is crashed later on and doesn't control the forces as intended.
