996 TT vs.......
Did a Chin Motorsports event this past weekend to tune the setup on my car. Car hasnt been handling to my liking all year. A really bad vibration surfaced early which turned out to be a axle going bad. I had to take it easy, especially in that last turn (12) before the front straight, but in general everywhere. Also had a fuel cut going exiting several turns.
HOWEVER, there were some really nice pro cars there including the Whelen Grand Am Corvettes, the retired ALMS Ford GT from Robinson Racing, a 458 Challenge car, a host of Z06's, GT3's etc. While I was on10 HC A7's I still had a ball running with the big dogs. These are amatuer guys driving, but these cars are also uncorked from their rules days.
This particular session I go out, dice a bit with the Grand Am Vette, but dont like the setup, drive through the pits for tire temps and a turn of the damper dial. I come out right in front of the challenge car and one lap later am right behind the Ford GT. After some back and forth in traffic, Im running low on fuel and having power cutting all over so I cool down and pit in. The Ford GT gets away but I managed to hold off the challenge car. But boy was it fun! Should have run my second cam facing backwards but oh well.

No, just a straight cut 3rd gear and usualy lwfw chatter but louder since no interior. The 3rd gear is ultra weak in our cars. I broke 3 of them in 2 years only running K24's. I know of 3 or 4 other track turbos that ate them as well. This straight cut 3rd gear set has lasted 2 whole years on its own. If you track a lot on sticky tires, you will eat 3rd gear at some point.

Thanks guys, for years people thought the TT was an incompetent vehicle on the track and I took to it for that very reason after seeing a gentleman running nose to tail with several GT3's (996) at Road Atlanta one day. It has never disappointed since. From the days of light mods (coilovers, tune, rear sway, exhaust) running times that are VERY close to pro's in today's technology (C7Z) to now holding lap records at 6 mostly major tracks, the car is phenomenal. If you are doubting putting yours on the track, don't, you have a monster ready to be unleashed.

I have a 2001 with the 2 gear pop-out and I want a LSD. Dropping engine/trans this weekend.
Can't see what Doran Ford GT chassis that is but I am sure at some point I made something on the car.
Robinson Racing Ran those cars to a 3rd place in class in 2011 24H of Le Mans.
This is the last one built running a Ford Daytona Prototype motor which is slightly different then the motor used in the Robinson cars.
