Hello gents! Intro and question about problem post spark plug install.
Hello 6speed!
New member here and I would like to say hello. Just picked up a 34K mile 01' Turbo. Love the car, always wanted one and found a way to make it happen. What a machine!
Been doing routine maintence to get it ready for tuning and experienced a slight problem: did spark plugs yesterday (what a journey that was, but figured it out) and put it all back together today. I have a boost leak in the right intercooler as it makes a loud whooshing noise and the idle is hunting a bit (I must have not put the intercooler hose in right or not placed the turbo outlet hose on right with the screw clamp.) I will figure that out today when I get the car in the air.
However, biggest issue: I got the "ABS Malfuntion / PSM inactive" lights on the way to the office today. While they might not be related, I would imagine in the process of taking stuff on and off that I may have screwed something up that has to do with that system? Or maybe some sensor is out of place after being up on a jack and stands? Seemed pretty critical and just seemed too coincidental after taking the whole rear end apart...
Thoughts?
Thanks for any help you guys can render, I greatly appreciated. Great community here!

i think what hes saying is that if you have a vac leak ( which you probably do ) it'll trigger the abs/psm cel. but youre right, its probably just a loose i/c hose or y-pipe etc.. or something minor causing the leak, and accompanying idle hunting.
Oh got it! I see what was being said. Didn't know on the Porsche that ABS was interconnected to vacuum somehow but if that is the case, then I would be stoked to know that I didn't need a new ABS controller or something like that.
re the abs? i dont even know that it IS "connected". all i know is that abs/psm is so common it wouldn't surprise me to see that cel when the washer fluid was low!
you'll get used to "em
congrats on the acquisition.

what did you take apart to access the plugs? fyi we do these plugs with everything intact including the rear wheels still on the car. Only thing that needs to get removed are the heat shields on the valve covers to get to the coils. Look into a spark plug socket set with built in swivel/ extension will make this job much either

while this might be a little late, did you check/change the coils when you had the plugs out?
My car needed a coil or two at 45K miles (missfire, CEL) and we ended up doing the plug change again even though it was done at 30K. Plugs, newer coils, fuel filter.

You have a video with doing full plugs and coils on a 996tt with everything in place?
I replaced plugs before and I can't imagine getting coils out and plugs with ICs, bumper, wheels, etc still being in place.
+1, lol...that, I would love to see. Hats off to anyone that can do it that way
