New to 996 Turbos. Mechanical advice needed
This is probably a bit long winded, so bear with me. I recently bought a 01 996 Turbo. Beautiful car with tasteful mods both inside and out. Previous owner was running straight exhaust off of the turbos and it was just too much drone for me as an occasional nice weather driver. Prior to my decision to replace the exhaust the CEL came on and it was 02 sensor related. Fortunately the seller gave me his Durametric diagnostics kit so I'm able to check codes and reset them at will. Erring on the side of caution I ordered 4 brand new Bosch 02 sensors and installed them with the 996 Tubi exhaust system I also received with the car. I was hoping that would be the end of my issues, but alas after a test drive with the new exhaust/02 sensors installed I am throwing codes once again as follows....
P0045 Boost pressure control valve final stage open circuit
P0130 Porsche fault code 10- 02 sensor ahead of cat cone. bank 1
P0300 Porsche fault code 507 Misfire detection (total)
P0301 Porsche fault code 508 Misfire Cylinder 1
P0302 Porsche fault code 510 Misfire Cylinder 2
P0303 Porsche Fault code 512 Misfire Cylinder 3
Is there a reason why only one bank now is affected by misfires? Was I supposed to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU after installing the new 02 sensors? Forgive the million questions. I'm an air-cooled vw guy and am new to the Porsche thing. Just hoping someone here has had a similar issue and can help me nail down exactly what might be plaguing my newest addition. Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Nothing to do with all of your 02 sensors sounds like you have a cam solnoid issue or maybe that 02 sensor but i wouldnt drive it.

No engine doesnt come out. Its the sensor thats right by the spark plugs.
It could be broken where the mount is or bad. A porsche mechanic can test it or maybe your durametric could. Of course this is a guess.

Hey I really appreciate it. I'm new to the game and learning as I go. I was pretty proud of myself for replacing the 02 sensors and fitting the Tubi all by myself in the garage yesterday. Also, I will never complain about a VW engine compartment being cramped again...

While you're in there around the spark plugs, you should also change the plugs and coils if you don't have recent records of them being done. They bring in misfire codes too. Also, as always, do a boost leak check.

I've ordered a boost leak test kit, so obviously will rule that out before ordering any other parts. Just to clarify, am I looking for a cam solenoid or a cam sensor? They appear to be different.
Also on a different thread someone posted the following...
"When you get fault codes on the same bank its generally the valve on the opposite bank sticking." Any truth to this?

You sure you plugged the 02 wires back into the right spot?
Clear the code and drive it, Cam sensor fault should clear and not be 100% fault all the time if it just started. It's an easy fix, won't kill the car if you have to use it. It will show a non-synch between cylinder banks due to timing. There are 2 one on the driver and one on the passenger side.
Edit: I am speaking directly to a cam sensor fault and not solenoid. The sensor is a little black plastic piece/plug on the valve cover with 2 allen heads on each side.

Yep, double and tripe checked the O2 sensor wiring, Both are in the correct receptacles on their respective sides. (I found the flip down/push out connector fascinating from an over-engineered German standpoint) I cleared the codes last night via Durametric and will drive the car around easy today and see if I get another light again. The car was very low on fuel yesterday too. I've since filled it up with a nice tankful of fresh 93 octane. I will update with what happened and what if any codes happen again today. Thanks!

My apologies to the admins here. I just saw there is a 411 technical forum specifically for questions like these. Feel free to delete this thread as I have re-posted in the proper place now!

agree on (1) cam position sensor ( yes, its near the spark plugs and a 50$ part that fails ) and also the coils and plugs are the most common sources for misfires as you know.
you're in the right section/forum btw, and congrats on your acquisition!
