headlight facelift

during the cold winter days i tryed a headlight facelift

after i open the headlights , i has seen the reflectors (xenons) are blind

so all reflectors new coated with chrom (find a shop that could do this)

the inside of the headlights are painted in the color of the car

the project isnt finished at the moment...

I'm a little partial, but I love the look of having the housing painted body color.

Looking good,
Steve

Yea of all the mods I've seen done to our lights I think body color is the best. Dont think I've seen an arctic car with it before, any shots from farther away?

the xenonreflectors are not in best condition, new chrome was a need
to get a super light..

for the paintjob at the inside i has to open the casing

Would love to get details ...

I had this process done by a place that was recommended by someone on this forum. They did a horrible job and essentially destroyed my headlights.

What type of sealant do you plan on using to reseal the headlights?

What method are you using to paint the inner pieces? In my experience, the paint bubbled up over time and looked like crap, not sure if this was due to heat or what. There were also issues with paint gassing, creating a haze inside the resealed headlight.

Really liked the look, too bad they didn't hold up.

sorry that it ends up in a horrible job for you... it is not easy to do

maybe they forgot the heat protector over the high beam

sealant i use polyurethane (PUR)

i did a heatcycle test 25min with xeon high /low beam/h11 high beam and fog light on....no problems with the oem porsche color coat /and clear coat
(sprayed in a paintshop at over 60C)

see the heat protector

JSBear,

Sorry you had so much trouble. After removing the lens myself, cleaning the inside of the lens and reselling the headlights, mine have held up well with no issues.

Later, Steve

Agreed, way too much chrome from the factory. I went a similar route, but also moved the turn signals in order to delete the lower section of the oval.
