More 997 bashing

I agree with other posts on this board about the looks of the 997. I think that the lines on the 997 are so flat and boring. The door reminds me of a Yugo. Not a drop of character anywhere in the interior.

Here's another issue that I don't think has been addressed. Has anyone else noticed that if you order the smaller diameter sports steering wheel on the 997 you can't see the outer most guages in the instrument cluster. That doesn't seem like a small oversight to me.

Of course, something tells me that this thread would read a little different on the 997 board.

Bash the 997 all you want, it's still leaps and bounds better than the 996 that it replaces. I had a 996 cab before my current car and I can tell you that from firsthand experience. There simply is no comparison. Looks are subjective but everything else is not. I turned down a 04' Turbo X50 cab with 3k miles to get my '06 997 S cab. If I had to do it all over again, there is no doubt in my mind that I would still choose the 997.

i am all about the 997. the 996 headlights bother me. the lines on the 997 i think are nicer than those of the 996, and i have a feeling that all the bashing of the 997 tt pics will fade away once that bad boy gets released.

You're obviously not alone. The press agrees and truth be told, if I wasn't told I'd have to wait 3 months I'd probably be driving a 997S too.

Re-reading my post, it may have sounded a little offensive. Sorry

Drove a 997 S last week and I gotta tell ya... I liked it! Not enough to swap out my TT for the "S" or the new TT but pretty pretty cool! this is coming from the guy who was a die hard air-cooled guy who swore he'd NEVER get in a 996!! Once I drove the 996... it was all over! I guess never-say-never!

Can't bash the 997, it's awesome, people just don't like change or feel the need to defend the old body style.

Once the 997 turbo hits and there are more of those owners on the board we will start hearing about how it is head and shoulders above the 996 turbo and how the 996 looks "old" and "boring" in comparison.

Yea i dont understand the bashing either, i mean i love the 997 a whole lot.. I wanted a 997S badly, but figured with my need for speed i should get the TT, but even moreso i just love the looks. Both are great, they're Porsche's for gods sake
