I AGREE!
Unless the Tiptronic is HURT............the TIPTRONIC should always be faster at the DRAGSTRIP than a manual. Dragracers always opt for an automatic for the 1/4mile.
It would have been very cool if a CARRERA GT & ENZO and GT3 CUP cars had been invited and perhaps a FORD GT and Lamborghini Gallardo............John Ligenfelter would have brought a 427 Twin Turbo C5 Vette......we could go on and on with this stuff.
I have had Cort Wagner, David Murry, John Morton, and Bill Auberlen drive my car at the racetrack................Billy was the fastest.......... BUT all these guys were on ALL ON FIRE. I was riding shotgun.
Next time we should call SPEEDVISION and syndicate the thing & make some CAKE!

Like I said earlier, what I thought was to transpire and what has transpired is two different things. My gut feeling is all anyone learned yesterday was raise your boost. It kind of reminds me of a gal with a outrageous figure .... that is if you like padded bras.

You have to finish to win.
High boost is not a bad thing if you have control of the important areas.
Air/fuel
Knock Activity
Egt's
Turbine vs. intake pressure vs. realistic pressure drops
Keeping the shaft speed below critical
Some semblance of compressor efficiency...
Boost is not evil. Bad setups are.

Shank,
Come to think of it, as I reflect back, I should have suspected something. Being able to disable the 1.3 bar boost restriction on the 996tt and GT2 is a relative new discovery. If everyone remembers back a few months ago I approached GIAC through two of their distributors for the purpose of removing the limitation in my ECU. The response I recieved from both of them was,"Yes, GIAC would be happy to do this to your car, but not until after the shootout."
Yes, it is all now perfectly clear. It seems now my little tuner friend who didn't want to compete was sand bagging big time.
One of the reasons I passed on this shootout was the response I received from GIAC and the fact the GIAC dyno was being used. From my point of view there was simply a hugh conflict of interest.

I was at the event strapping cars down. GIAC had no input on any dyno settings. Dan B. from Primedia/EC had full control. Where is the conflict in that?
I know from the Audi event after the dyno section many people notions of how they would stack up quickly shifted. If you didn't participate, do you have a right to contest the validity?
Sorry to be a PITA....
