Higher Redline
Higher Redline
Would pumping the redline to say 7,000 RPM be an acceptable mod?
Not for the purpose of 7,000 RPM cruising or sustain higher than stock revs but to add a little forgiveness to the already lightning bounce in first or second.
Last I want is to stress the monster. Just asking in theory and practically speaking.

Some aftermarket manufacturer's do in fact increase the redline on their engine conversions.
Sportec just set a world record for for a 996TT convertible with their 580 engine kit and a longer 6th gear. They went around the Nardo track at 357kmh/h. Pretty amazing!

Record for Fastest Convertible Goes to Switzerland
22.11.2005
Supplement from 29 May 2005:
Apart from the world record for the fastest SUV, Sportec has also, just incidentally, secured the record for the world`s fastest convertible.
Within the scope of a high-speed test carried out by the magazine Auto Motor & Sport which took place between the 27th and the 29th of May in Nardo, an anonymous Sportec customer reached an officially measured top speed of 357 km/h with his SP 580 Convertible. In doing so, the Swiss outdid even the fastest driver of the professional class even though he went to the start as one among the invited Auto Motor & Sport readers "just" to take his car for a drive.
The 580 HP strong Porsche Turbo Convertible with a long 6th gear by the Sportec manufacturer pulverised the former record and set a new benchmark for sporty convertibles. As a matter of course, all modifications obtainable from the Sportec manufacturer have a MOT approval - in Germany as well as in Switzerland.

my protomotive tune has redline ~ 7400rpm.
doing the redline w/o any other mods wouldn't really have too much purpose; you might make peak hp for a few hundred more rpm, but when done in conjunction w/ other mods (ie, exhaust, programming, etc), it definitely has its advantages.
