Although I'd love to sell my front diff - the best thing I did to my car was remove it and put a Guards LSD in the rear. For now you can remove it and drive as is with the open diff out back and decide what type of LSD fits your needs. The front diff and everything comes out in less than an hour once you have the under body panels removed.
^^ What Joe said. A quality LSD will provide more traction than the front drive is even remotely capable off. Even if you leave the the fwd system in place, an LSD will give you huge gains.

I'm running a Guard GT2 Pro. It's their strongest race diff with a chromoly billet case. If you're not racing or heavily tracking the car it's overkill. For street/track applications under 700hp the Guard GT Club lsd is phenomenal and about $1500 cheaper. It's still stronger than any Porsche OEM LSD as the Club case is billet. A Porsche Motorsport Cup lsd is also excellent and on par with the GT Club. You'll have a few guys here recommending the wavetrack tbd and it's a well liked torque biasing diff by street and straight line guys but its not a diff used on any Porsche race cars as it's not a true limited slip with locking function. The wavetrack is about 1/4 the price of the Guard and Motorsport LSDs. A number of choices for different applications. Tons of info if you search a bit online. Bottom line, an lsd is the best performance mod you can do to these car far surpassing any hp mods.

How did you know the front diff failed?
I've got the one currently in my car. I was waiting to take it out for getting my GT3 uprights and stuff together and installed, but if it will help you out I can drive to Spokane and swap mine in for you.
I was wanting a reason to go out to Reunion anyways

There was really no question... I was watching the fuel economy and it was getting better for the first 4-5 hours, then consumption started going up. I was starting to wonder if I was going uphill and didn't realise. It went from 11.3 to 11.8 ltr/100 km over about 15 minutes. Then, all of a sudden there was a lot of resistance and the car started to slow down pretty fast. There was a pop and the resistance was gone. I pulled over and saw all the diff oil on the under body. It had to be engine oil or diff fluid. I checked the oil and all was good. I was able to go the last 40 miles with a little clinking going on in the front end.
Do you have a place we could do the swap or would the shop have to do it? I currently have a deal setup with European Autohaus where they will squeeze me in to take out the old one but they are pretty swamped with repairs from Parade, I'm pretty sure they don't want to do twice the work if it isn't absolutely necessary. They said they could remove the diff and seal up the front end in about 4 hours. If they have to reinstall also, that would be another 4 hours (I think).

I'd pull mine out myself, I could help you put it in yours, or you could have your shop do it. Maybe I could pull mine out and bring it in another car instead of drive down and swap. Between myself and friends I know in the area, we could probably find someone's house to do it. I'd have to ask.
Any idea what caused the failure? Tire sizes?

Update - I just got a call from the people looking at my car... It's not the diff! Apparently the right drive shaft in front seized and broke. Another shaft is coming tomorrow. All the fluid is still in the diff and it looks OK. They are still trying to figure out where all the fluid came from that is under the centre of the car below the diff. Everything in back is fine. More news as I get it.
