Modifying Turbo spoiler wiring for fixed spoiler
When I disconnected mine, I was expecting to have to fiddle with it to remove the warning, but I never got a warning or had any trouble - so it's just been sitting like that since I did the conversion. I really should do something more permanent...
I've been heavily involved in all things rear spoiler for a few years. Those of you like Slider that simply remove the electrical and don't get a warning seems very lucky, or somehow prior the ECU was altered with a PIWIS or Durametric. The cluster ECU is always looking for the proper input from the right side microswitches upon reaching 75 MPH or upon slowing to 37 MPH, else the warning is thrown.
Same here, when I went to an aerokit rear deck lid, I simply disconnected the wiring to the hydraulic pistons and tucked it under the plastic shield. It has been that way for many years now. I never had any kind of warning light. Also, the OEM wing was working 100% properly when the swap was made. Car is an '02.

No shorting - they are simply removed and free floating. I enclosed them in a small plastic bag and sealed it with a zip tie to keep them clean - that's it.

So, the procedure is to remove microswitches from the right side ram, that's it? Don't tape up one switch with the contact closed? Don't need to remove the reversing power wires to the syringe motor?
One would assume you are taking out the hydraulics and the electric motor. After that, all I did was remove the micro-switch mount (including the switches) and set that stuff aside. Seal up the wires for the electric motor so they can't touch ground or each other. Make pretty if you want. I wouldn't make things too permanent until you verify that no codes or warnings are thrown.
I just removed my motor and hydraulics this weekend - replaced with the kit from sbrtampa on ebay. Great instructions and a great kit.
I just disconnected the wires to the motor, taped the ends, and that was it. No lights have come on and I've driven the car over 75 MPH a few times to test. I have not, however, tried pushing the button on the dash. Think I'll refrain since everything is good for now!

Correct, That's what I did back in 2009 and no issues ever. Not sure if I have ever pushed the spoiler button, though....

Very odd. So the ECU is still trying to raise the phantom wing at 75 MPH, but doesn't get the "up" signal from the microswitch and doesn't set off the Spoiler Warning. I will be installing eRams in a customer's 997 turbo in a few weeks. I will run this exact test before the swap.

It may be as simple as sensing there is nothing connected to the power to the motor that raises the wing. Simple test to see if it's there or not. It would make sense to have such a circuit if they make cars with and without the motorized wing - nothing else to change.
