Yup-one of them was completely shot...! no movement at all in the piston inside it. Had two new EVO billet diverter valves fitted and the EVO short shift system.

The short shift is fantastic-really positive shift and exactly what I'd hoped for.

I didn't notice a massive difference with the DV's straight away but after a hundred miles I realised it has much better throttle response-less lag between gears-engine also seemed quieter and smoother.

Fourth gear from balanced throttle to WOT was instant and seriously quick.

If you're thinking about either of these mods just go ahead and do them.

While the car was being done I went and did an hour drifting training in a Caterham and I have to say it was the most fun I'd ever had in a car without the help of a woman-I got to the stage where I was doing 5+ doughnuts around a single cone.

Yesterday was a good day.

I just did the Evo DV's on my 2001. (Last mod for complete stage 2) Decided to do it myself, as I work on and restore cars, and have about every tool you could imagine. So I thought this job would be easy.

It's really an easy job except for that lower pitch clamp on the front (of car) valve. That clamp was obviously put on with the engine out of the car when manufactured, so the access to pinch the clamp in the extremely tight quarters is a real PIA. I've heard this "hour and a half" job would require an engine drop if done by a P dealer.

The 1.5 hours is about right not counting the wrestling match with that damn pitch clamp. The other 3 were easy.

For me, it added another hour to the job. But, determined to succeed, finally got it off, and the rest of the job went smoothly.

They DV's certainly are night and day in higher quality than the oem's.

Seem to work great.

Are you saying that your stock diverter valves lasted 40k? Mine never made it past 10k before the rubber boot tore.

Mine were moaning and groaning at 1,000 miles. Baileys were my first mod.

I didn't think I had any problems either-it's definitely better for it-a nice cheap mod which just replaces the original part with something noticeably better-that's the sort of mod I like.
