Ahh i see... So the only way to do that would be to change your gearing, or actually have your Ecu remapped with a higher redline correct? I notice i rev out to 7k with my ecu, but i would think the 7200-7300 wouldnt be too safe, but i could be wrong

Yea he got up there, also he was stopped at the factory limiter at 6500k, the turbo's with ecu upgrades that rev to 7k would have gotten an extra 10 mph out of it easily going to 7k

190 in that video! That's some *****!

I guess the question has been answered. the top is gear limited at 190. My car would just there quicker. Pretty impressive if think that the car can pull from 40 to 190 one gear.
well i guess that also answers my question to which ECU remap i have, considering mine rev's out to 7k

6500??? Something is not right then, factory rev limiter is 6750.

So is the top sped limited by rev limiter or power?

I know that if rev limit wasn't the limiting factor you could expect an extra 3% top speed for every 10% more power.

I'm surprised at that video-My gps shows my speedo to be out by at least 5mph at half that speed-my guess is he had a few more revs there to reach a "true" 190mph.

Let's assume the TT is not redline limited. If that's the case, consider the following: A C4S (widebody NA) has 320 HP and gets up to 175. A TT with 420 gets up to 189. If we simplify things, and calculate the ratio of HP to the ratio of tops speed, we find that these numbers are consistent if you use an exponent of around 3.5. i.e. top speed for a given HP level (assuming no other changes like aero) is roughly calculated as:

189 x (Your HP / 420) ^ (1/3.5)

Using this, we get a 2.7% increase in top speed for 10% extra power, which is consistent with the statement above.

Also, note the following:

355HP gets us 180 mph (approx 997C4S)
450HP gets us 193 mph (approx GT2/X50)
512HP gets us 200 mph
600HP gets us 209 mph
760HP gets us 224 mph (RUF, RUF)
1120HP gets us 250 mph (Chad/Todd?)

Obviously, these are rough estimates, and aero plays a huge role at these speeds (see how much power a TT needs to go RUF fast without their aero treatments), but it gives us an idea where we need to shoot if we want to go quickly.

I drove my buddy's EVO Stage 4 and it would not go faster than 201mph on the GPS. I made 5 runs and they all were within .5mph....

Was that at redline? If not, what RPM did you max out at?

I know he had the raised rev limiter(7300?) but honestly my eyes were on the road, not on the tach! His car had the garrett turbos/evo manifolds, sofware, etc... I do know that I was not banging off a rev limiter, I was drag limited.

ari,

The only ways to increase top speed is larger diameter tires providing you have the ponies to attain redline, taller gears again providing you have the ponies to attain redline or raise the redline and again have the ponies to attain the new redline.

If GIAC doesn't raise the rev limiter, how did you get the EVO Stage 4 with a raised rev limiter?

It's not my car so I don't know what software it had. What I do know is that the rev limiter was over 7k.... Ask EVO about it, the exact car I drove is on EVO's "GT640" page on the dyno. The car does have 19" wheels now.
