Maybe the challenge comes with trying to separate the 3 way on top of the plenum that attaches to the #16 Check valve. Since that was broken it made access and removal a lot easier (I would imagine). My advice for anyone wanting to do this mod is to cut that small hose in half and separate the three way from the Check valve. Then order a new 2 inch hose. That would be my 2 cents.

I would also do that “now” if just replacing the Check valve. I wouldn’t have broken that top piece if I’d just cut it and replaced that hose with the valve. Hope that makes sense.

Bumping this thread as I'm getting ready to replace the check valve myself and this thread is by far the best one I've found for seeing what things look like back there.... I'm a bit paranoid after reading this thread about breaking the plenum nipple. That would increase the time, hassle, and expense of replacing the valve quite a bit, so I'd like to avoid it!

Cutting the short connector hose seems like a great idea rather than risk breaking the plenum. Do you recall what size it is so I can make sure I have the right hose available before I start tearing everything down?

I think people might be afraid to really lower the engine. you can lower it quite and bit and I was able to get the stock plenum out and IPD in no problem. the IPD was a bit of a pain but didn't have to take off diverters or oil filter housing to get it in. just took some ingenuity and thinking through.

also wouldn't hurt to probably spray that little vent hose with soapy water to help get it off the plenum nipple

Careful, yes you can lower the engine several inches but only so far as the oil tank does hit the crossmember on the right hand side. Go slow.
