Filters on turbos or 2.5 inch intake piping a long with catless exhaust will drop spool by 500+ rpms.

hybrid turbo k24 car doing this spools much faster than a stock k16 car.

Although I have a K16 car, I agree with this advice, talk to Sam. He's worked wonders with my car, which is stock except Kline exhaust, 100 octane, and his custom Cobb tune. No lag here, although clearly not apples to apples.
