Bitcoin futures, one of the most ridiculous things ever.

The real irony is that many folks are baffled by derivative investments, but in this case, the 'futures' are far easier for most to actually understand than the underlying asset...

Most all of the somewhat interesting cars I've owned in the past are worth more now than what they originally sold for new. Some examples are '58 MG Magnette, '61 MGA Twin Cam Coupe, '61 Mini, '63 Mini, '64 Sunbeam Alpine, '64 Jaguar XKE Coupe, '73 and '75 Porsche 914, '80 Porsche 911 SC Targa. Most cars I owned in the '90's and later, Corvettes, Jags, and Porsches have remained fairly flat.

Seeing a new Porsche Turbo Cabriolet equivalent on the showroom floor at over $250K gives me some hope the value of our cars may start to come up at some point. I certainly don't think the new version is $200K better. And 5 years from now, they will both be "old used cars with old technology". The 996TT may be the more interesting and engaging to drive however.

So Nick, slow cars seem to increase in value better than fast ones. LOL

I've recenty begun to realize that the future electric cars are going to wipe out the value of gas cars. The performance potential of electric cars is incredible. Currently the batteries are just OK, with weight, capacity, and heat being the big limitations. In the future I believe that car companies will have some breakthroughs which will give us light weight, high capacity, durable batteries. 8 or 9 second all wheel drive cars will be no big deal with the right mods. Every generation of cars has their moment of valuation boost when the generation who knew those cars and appreciated them become high earners that are willing to spend on them. The values fall as that generation fades. The old model T types of cars saw this appreciation rise and fall first. The muscle car boom has come and is now falling off as tastes from the next generation have shifted to sports cars like Porsches, Supra, Ford GT, ect more over muscle cars. Of course no one who is coughing up $100k+ for a 993 thinks that it will ever depreciate on them, that is part of the illusion of valuations. The next generation will see an 8 sec electric Porsche and won't want to bother with the old ones.

You fail to realize that most REAL car guys want engines that make noise, smell, sound good.

They have their appeal, I'm not saying they do not. The gas cars won't be able to compete. Making an 9 second gas car is a big deal. Tons of mods. Blown up expensive parts, tons of money. Right now you can go buy a big boat Tesla that will run in the 10's stock with current technology. They are going to get much better. Keep in mind that these cars have no scheduled maintenance as well. I estimate this will be enough to drop the values of gas cars. The next generation of car buyers will not want them. I'm speaking in terms of 10-15 years out, maybe more depending on how fast the technology can improve.

List it for whatever you want. If no one buys, then you know what to do. Might as well start high. I have before and have been surprised at what people will pay.
