With the carrillo rods do I need their bolts? My target is 800 bhp .
You can get an RSR IMS though Porsche Motorsport. You need an account with Porsche Motorsport to buy these parts. I have a brand new spare one if you decide to go that route. I also have a brand new Motorsport crank if you want one. It's the latest 991Cup crank manufactured in November 17. Unless you're building a track motor, these parts are not necessary.

Get the CARR bolts with the Carillo rods. If you go with the RSR crank, you will need Carillo to make custom 53/23mm rods for you. Pauter can make them also and they are very good.

RSR crank has wider journals, improved oiling, counterweighed. nice improvement over turbo, but will require custom rods.

also if you do pauter rods and retain the stock oil pump, crank and ims you don't need to split the cases or clearance the oil pump. iw ould change all of those things out and def use the GT3 cup IMS.

I think if you look back over the years you'll find a few stories of 996tt that suffered the same fate. Not many, I would say no more than half a dozen. A few were 02x50's, that's why I asked.

how many miles were on the timing chain? In a past life I was a design engineer working on timing chain so I am very familiar with their design and failure modes.

X50, GT2 and GT3 got the dual pick up pump. I am not sure starting what production date but I know this for sure as I have taken apart an unopened 996 x50 motor that had this pump. by 997 generation all Metzgers got the dual pump.
