Piston Ring End Gaps when upgrading rods..
Hi Guys,
I'm a floater on the boards and don't post much. Just a habit. I will be posting about my build when I'm complete.
My build consists of Pauter rods, raceware studs, stock pistons and liners, rebuilt heads (valve guides were worn), port matched, pocket ported, 3 angle valve job, hybrid k24's (I had badly corroded K24's and my local rebuilder and I were able to find a matching centresection that allowed us to rebuild).
I'm using the Goetze aftermarket rings and will be running top ring at .020 and the 2nd ring at .079 (width of anti rotation pin) + .039.
My question is does anyone have any experience with gapping the 2nd ring ? How is the factory second ring end profile ? Square or does it make some funky shape to clear the anti rotation pin ?
It seems like a large gap but it makes sense since the anti rotation pin acts as an end stop.
