i've got my 7, 5, 1 year old in the car often.
If both older ones are in the back, I use a high back booster seat I got at walmart, it's the one that fit the best, and was about $40 (do a search, there are a few threads on this).
I generally roll with just one child in the front. In that case i have a britax 5 point harnassed booster and they go in the front seat with the air bag deactivation bar. I'll also throw the 1 year old in the front in a keyfit 30 and put the older two in the back. The keyfit will also fit in the rear pretty decently. I personally, haven't found a 5 point convertable or booster that fits in the back. But you may want to look at some european seats as they tend to be significantly narrower than american made seats.
