Many of you know that i have been eagerly awaiting my Elise for a while. However, i've always had a special place in my heart for Shelby Cobras. I actually was very close to buying a Superformance Cobra recently but didn't pull the trigger.

Anyway, this car came up for sale and i really want it. Would you rather have this or an Elise?

i should add that this car will be replacing my S2000 as a car for some cruising, canyon slamming, and track days. I will be getting a practical car/truck in addition.

One of my brothers Has a Shelby Series one... nice car and they can be had for around 80-90k..mabey less. Really unique car and fast I think he g-teched it at 3.7 second 0-60..his is supercharged..the normal one is low to mid 4's... the build quality is not the best. but i would consider looking into one of these instead of a Cobra.. just my opinion.

Also I could not even fit into an Elise.. way too small in my opinion.. and it has a toyota celica engine doesnt it?

Cool car but it is afterall a kit which will end up having problems. Your elise will be new. I say stick with plan A. you will be much happier! You will get much more seat time in the elise...It just does not seem very practical... compared to the elise.

Stick with the Elise.

I think that the Shelby Series One had one of the worst warrenties: only 6 months.

The Factory Five replicas are wonderful, fun cars. Most of them are built up wtih Mustang 5.0 parts (suspension, engine, frame, brakes, etc). The cars are very fast and very raw. I think they might be rawer then an Elise. As mentioned above, it is a kit car, so expect some problems with it (although, that is sort of the fun).

i have no trouble with problems. i have been working on ford's my entire life so it's not really an issue. With regards to a series 1, they are well out of my price range. i think i am probably going to move on this car...you only live once and i can always get an elise later on.

How about a T-Rex if you want to lose all practicality?

Get the Elise. I just love them, alas I'm too tall to be comfortable in one. You'll own on the track with that beatifully fugly Elise!

i got the cobra for an absolute steal!!!! i was told by numerous sources it was worth between 50-60k. I'm so frickin excited!!! will be picking it up sometime after the 20th of this month when i'm back in Cali. I will definitely post a full report.

It is going to be a fun track car/project car for my stepfather and me. Hopefully in the next year or so i'll pull together the cash to buy the Elise in addition.
