H&R vs Eibach Springs

Gotta say that I am the proud new owner of a 2001 996TT and want to lower the car an inch. I'm not like these other big spenders on this forum...all I want to do is to lower the car as cheap as possible WITHOUT going stiffer. I'm not interested in changing suspension...just want to change the springs. Which do you guys recommend? I have heard H&R Springs or Eibach Springs for this car...I don't want to stiffen the ride, just lower the car. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I would spend the extra cash and get a coilover kit (springs + matching rate shocks/struts), but that's just me. I don't trust aftermarket spring rates vs stock shock/strut rates. Also, your car will stiffen somewhat if you go with springs or coilovers. The good thing is that you can adjust coilovers. You cannot with springs.

You can also post in the "For Sale" section that you want to buy some lowering springs and someone might have a set of used ROW springs.

Next appt for me in early March for :
-Gt3 seats
-roll bars
-upgraded brakes
-Stage 2 clutch/flywheel

I'm going to get some track time before I change PSS9's to MOTON's and dial in the suspension

Sharky's too busy in February!!

PSS9s will actually improve your ride while significantly enhacing handling. The stock suspension is surprisingly poor in comparison.

Welcome aboard. Coilovers are a good setup but they can make funnny noises at times. Springs are simple and affordable. We have H&R's on the shelf. We have sold many of them and some guys actually have commented that they like it better than the stock ride. It is not an aggressive lowering but you will need an alignment. Let me know if you want them. 6Speeders get 5% off on all orders.

O yeah, and I forgot to mention that Eibach has discontinued the 996TT springs. So I guess it is between the H&R springs and various coilovers. The Bilstein PSS9 systems are on sale too if you want to go that route. It will give the most flexibility.

I had the Techart springs on mine with 19s and the ride was fine. I actually liked the ride better then stock springs with the stock wheels.
