Has there been any product on the market that has outdone the 3m product for paint production?

Even in its latest revision I've never been terribly impressed with 3M. Both Venture and Llumar make films with superior clarity and similar protection characteristics.

Although it works really well I think it looks terrible. I'd just touch it up or respray it if it got to be unsightly. I don't know if Porsche does it, but my previous Mercedes (C55) had nano paint and I took it on a hot lap of the western US (3300 miles) a majority of which were in triple digits and I was really impressed with how well it held up.

The 3M films just look cheesy IMO.

I was thinking about using a company called Starshield to do my car, but was told by them that since they use the 3M product, there is no way to do the entire hood in one sheet. Therefore, you are stuck with a seam halfway up your hood, or just protection on the lower portion. I'm not a big fan of this look and was wondering if there was a product that came in larger sheets to protect the entire hood of a 996TT? Thanks.

I had Premier do the install on my 430 and they did the entire hood in one piece with Venture. Highly recommended (both the product and Premier).
