Question Question about removing exterior black trim parts

Well, since I should have my Techart II bumper on soon, I want to get the black side skirts and rear bumper parts under the vents painted arctic silver to complete the look. At the same time, I plan on getting the Misha GT2 wing painted. My question is, how hard is it to remove these parts to take to a shop to get painted. I imagine the back is easy..never tried though, but are the side skirts just screwed on? I was told about a 4 day turnaround, so thats not too bad. Also, once I get the wing painted, I know I need a spanner wrench to remove the factory wing. Maybe a dumb question, but is the spanner wrench the same I got with my PSS9's to adjust the suspension? I have seen the spoiler spanner wrenchs on ebay, but figured why should I buy it (will only use it one time), if I have something that may work. Thanks for any info.

I am curious as well. I am having my lower sides and rear painted at the end of march and would like to just remove them and bring the pieces to the body shop. I think the pieces should be easily removed but any insight would be great.

desert996 is infamous around these parts
I just finished painting my side and rear trim. The sides are very easy to remove. There are 2 or 3 torx screws in each wheel well and 5 torx screws along the bottom edge of each side skirt (T-25 torx I believe). Then there are several clips along the trim just below the door. After you take the screws out, push the trim inward to clear the clips. The 2 rear bumper trim pieces below the vents don't seem to be removable (At least I couldn't get them off). They look like they're part of the rear bumper itself. I just pulled off the rear bumper, masked off the lower trim pieces and painted them. As well, the middle rear trim piece is riveted to the rear bumper and not removable. I've pulled the rear bumper off a few times before while working on the engine so it wasn't that hard for me. If anybody else knows how to take off the rear trim pieces maybe they can chime in. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the info on the side skirts. I thought the rear bumper parts were just screwed in, but of course I never tried to remove them yet. I had a question about the clips on the side skirts, after I remove the torx screws, do I push the side skirts inward like under the car to clear the clips? Just trying to get an idea which way they go, so I don't break any clips in the process. Thanks again.

Yes, carefully push the trim in toward the center of the car. On my car (2001) some of the plastic clips were brittle and I cracked one because I wasn't careful.

I pulled the side pieces and rear bumper cover with basic hand tools. The bottom parts on the bumper cover are not removable so it will need to be masked off and painted. The car will much more finished. I would strongly picking up a piece of clear bra material and covering the newly painted areas behind the wheels both front and back. This eliminat any stone chipping. I attached a picture below to get you motivated!

Did you cut the clear bra yourself and apply it?

Yes. Get a good sharp pair of sizzors and some patience and you will be fine.
