It took me about 1/2 way thru this thread to realize you weren't talking about a Shelby Cobra replica.

He's talking about me. I raced a Kenny Belle Cobra making 615 to the wheels (725 at the crank or so) with my car when it was a Stage 2 and posted the video here on the forum. He beat me...but not by much.

I have something for him when my car returns from Protomotive in the next few days, however.

Weight has definately killed the american pony cars, i can't believe my GTO weighs almost 3800 lbs

That said, I ran a cobra vert w/ pulley, exhaust, and intake and we were dead even from 60-120.

the driver must have been far less than gifted if your GTO kept up with it, unless of course you are modded.

no, he wasn't bad at all. This car is a lot quicker then I (or most) realize

I ran my dads 2002 C5 the other night, had about a car and a half on him by 100. Guys are running 12.5-12.8's just w/ new rubber in the 05-06 cars. (well the 12.5 was w/ cut outs and new rubber)

Gotta also think, the convertable cobras aren't 'light'



Just curious since you know, what are guys w/ pulley, exhaust and intake throwing down to the wheels on the cobras?

You are close, let's run sometime BTW, how you liking school? I've had a bunch of buddies graduate from there, I strongly considered it for a long time but everyone told me if I enjoy to cook not to do it.

Basic upper pulley, tune, intake, exhaust cobra will do in the mid 400rwhp (440-450ish).

Tom is spot on 440-460rwhp w/ those mods. Good for 11.50-60's in a vert with a gifted driver. 11.9-12.2 with an average driver.

I'd love to run you, but I feel that it wouldn't be much of a race. I am in the process of up-stroking and boring an aluminum block to 324" with darton sleeves, billet cp pistons and billet Oliver rods, doing a full tubular front suspension, f & r coil overs, and slapping a single precision gt42-80 turbo on. I am shooting for 660-700rwhp on 12-15psi (.8-1.02 bar) on 91 craptane and 900+ rwhp on race fuel or whatever my fuel system will support (perhaps over 1000rwhp). The car will remain as my daily driver which sees 12-15K miles/yr. I expect to be the weight of the car to be ~3600# without me in it. The aluminum block sheds about 80lbs; suspension about 60lbs, and a few other things drop another 70-80lbs and the 6pt cage will add 60lbs.

As for school, I am on my externship right now, working at Norman's on Sunset. www.normans.com In all honesty, if you want to be a chef (or just learn about food), I strongly suggest going into a place line Norman's or another fine dining establishment and ask them if you could come apprentice for them. I wish I would have done that, as school did not prepare me for what I am doing at Norman's. I could also recommend some books to read as well.

the hours suck...basically 1-12 or 1 everyday.
