Jic/pss9

I've just had a set of JIC's put on with 9kg/12kg combo. It's very good so far for me. I've found my PSS9's even at the stiffest setting to be too soft.

Speaking of which, my PSS9's with 1400 miles on it are available if you decide to go that route. They're the Bilstein spec.

I've heard nothing but good things from guys that've had Moton's, except $$$.

hmm.. maybe i should lean towards KW Variant 3... price wise is similar between the PSS9 and the KW... JIC Cross is relatively newer... how much are the JICs anyways?

I've sold a number of the JICs. They are very capable shocks and have a lot of advantages over the PSS9s, especially for the track or high HP applications. As mentioned, they come in a variety of spring rates. They are also 15 way adjustable to tailor the ride to your liking. If you want a great setup, Moton is it. Again I have sold a number of these for street guys, and used them myself on the street. Great shocks, but about double the price of JICs....

Yea man and that's why i am going with the JIC as well.. On my M3 the PSS9's on stiffest were too soft and even on the turbo ive felt are just too tame for the type of driving and tracking i want to do, cant wait

devious,
I have KW V3 -- like them a lot. I went through all this suspension decision making process that you are doing last November. It was hard to find much feedback on the KW's but the price was right for a setup with an addition expansion chamber or whatever that thing is called. Also, the little feedback I could find was always very positive. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

wooo... that reminds me of my old KW variant 2 on my beemer... how's the ride tho?.. is it stiff?.. does it feel wobbly when u do a hard turn... does things shake in your car?.. rattle in other words?... i'm very interested in the KW, reason why is because i used it before and i didnt have any problems with it...

The only thing I have to compare them to is the stock suspension with 20k miles. I've never tracked the car so all my comments refer to street driving. I havn't had the chance to test it at high speed either. For whatever it's worth, my comments on the KW's are:

The ride is much more firm but never slamming. I think it is a little to stiff for the streets in my area but I would rather have it stiff because it is much more stable on high speed turns and it corners better because there is less body roll. I'd still like to do an adjustable sway bar or two...

Nothing shakes in the car that didn't before...

No idea if they are better than pss9's but they are a huge improvement over stock if you are looking for a more aggressive ride.

Hope this helps...

Thanks again for your feedback MH!

Hmm... I guess I might lean towards the KW vs the PSS9 or the JIC...

I bought mine on sale from Danny @ KMD tuning for about $3100.

Oh yeah, one more comment. If you notice the ride height in the picture, the guy who installed them told me this was the maximum installation height as suggested by KW. In other words, if I were any higher they would be slightly out of the manufacturer's recommended setup. which I assume means that there is very little chance of having bump stop problems with the rears.

The fronts are in the middle of the range...

wheels are 19 in.

MH: you wouldn't know exactly how many coils u've turned to get to that level, would u?... cause the only thing i dislike about coilvers is that we have to do everything by "eye"... meaning the height is hard to adjust to exact specs... it's either a tad low or a tad high... and hard to match front and back perfectly... any recommendations?... or maybe i'm just a rookie because that was what i was doing with my old KWs on the beemer...

i will have some JICs available early next week if anyone wants to go that route. i think one of the shocks might be bad but you can get that fixed.

ROFL! Yes you will early next week... BTW I like the lil' holes you made in the carpet so you could access the top of the shock (****)... James is gonna take the door panel off to and fix that lil' window switch problem! I hate that!

I could measure them or something. I had some expert Porsche alignment guy install them, I told him I want the ride hieght about here... nothing really scientific but I figured I'd let him give it a wack and see how I liked it... Plus the rears are probably still settling in a little, so I figure I will get more scientific about it this summer when they are fully settled in and I have more time.
