Shocks
for street... I use to own a KW variant 2 on a BMW... but for this new porsche.. ppl seem to use PSS9... so i'm not sure which one i should go for... price wise is approximately the same... and moton is a tad too extreme for me... i don't need all the settings because i won't touch it once it's set...
PSS9's but for the street even these may be over kill. Motons are my choice for the track.
If you are changing just for ride height you could just have the springs changed and the car would be 1-2 inches lower and would be best "bang for the buck"
My car came to me at the "proper" ie lowered ride height by the previous owner changed the springs to H&R's and just that set up handled pretty well at DE's also

Just got the PSS9s installed
I just got the PSS9's installed and I really like them. I have them set on 5 (Front)/4 (Rear). The ride is a little firmer, but not harsh at all. I only lowered the car about 3/4". One item I noticed is the car does wallow a bit in corners before it settles down. It's more noticable in some corners than others. It's the progressive spring rate that contributes to this feeling. I've ordered the H&R sway bars and increase the roll stiffness and address this issue. If you go with the PSS9's I suggest installing the H&R sway bars at the same time. AWE Tuning may still have the PSS9s on special for $2100.

I haven't heard much about the KW systems with the 996TTs in all honesty. I am not sure how adjustable they are, if at all.
Buddy G's running KW's so pm him if you want an impression. I know that the vario 3 is one of the best coilovers in the market. Manthay Racing use a specially valved version that's made for them by KW.
For the street, Motons, Ohlins and the like are certainly overkill. There's a choice of PSS9's, Bilstein factory, FVD specs and RUF spec. Of those, I've been in the RUF spec and it comes complete with a rear sway bar. The ride is much better than stock and the car feels transformed.
Porsche also offer the X73 coilovers and some say that these should have come standard on the turbo. They are non adjustable but are factory quality.
