Question Lowered TT front spoiler scrape protection ?

Well, I am sure most of the lowered TT guys know the lovely sound of the front lip scraping when you enter or exit a steep incline. My front stock turbo lip is almost gone in the middle front being scraped so many times. I know alot of guys put the C4S lip on, but now since I going to the Techart II front, is there anything to prevent this from ripping the front lip off? I have seen the "boomerang" thing on ebay for the stock turbo front, but does what do people with the Techart front do? Last thing I want to do is rip the lip off or crack the front spoiler on the bottom.

I try to angle in, but sometimes it still hits, and sometimes I have no choice but to drive into some horribly inclined spots...ie: g/f driveway, parking garages..you know what I mean. Thanks for any insight or thoughts.

you can get a new gf with better driveway at home. If this won't work. You may rise up the front abit with your PSS9.

LOL....thought about that! Her driveway sucks....even my stock suspension M3 would scrape.
The only problem with raising the front is that once the Techart is on, it will be lower then the stock TT bumper. Plus my PSS9's are set at ROW specs, so it is not that low.

Well your out of luck LOL.. The Techart even dropped from what i saw on John from jersey's hardly scraped, we didnt go up real steep inclines but we did on some moderate sized inclines. The middle is open and doesnt come out to a point like the stock turbo front lip, if your at ROW height you shouldnt have any problem, it seems your only concern is your g/f's driveway?!

BTW what the hell is the "boomerang"?!

Don't get the Techart GTS Type II (with the CF lip)...you will scrape and destroy the lip. With the regular Type II (I removed the CF lip) I have not had any problem with scrapes.

I have seen this thing on ebay. Looks like a huge "boomerang" that looks like it attaches to the bottom of the front spoiler. I think it is made of metal. As in funtionality, I assume it works, but not sure if it will save the lip. Not sure exactly how it attaches and where the protection is.

Wross996tt, so you didn't have many problems with the Techart II scraping? It looks so much lower then the stock bumper.

I guess the problem is the g/f driveway, not the car....hmmm....may need to decide which is more important to save!

No, Once I removed the CF lip I have not had a scrape. Less so than with the stock lip!

Damn, u are in for it with the techart frt...I just had mine taken off and i'm going to the GT2 one...Way easier to replace the bottom lip then the whole bumper...

You just need to take more angles and drive slower...
GOOD LUCK!!!

Wross996tt, thanks for the info. Maybe I will end up not installing the lip onto the bumper.

Habitat, thanks for the info also. Did you end up putting that GT2 front on you had for sale a while ago?

I suggest a new g/f with a better driveway situation, park on the street, or make her go to your house

You shouldn't have a problem getting up or down any driveway no matter how bad it is. My last 996 which was fitted with the turbo front bumper and lowered 1 and half inches had a two inch ground clearance. The trick to getting in a f-upped driveway is bring your car in at a slant (car must be almost parrallel to sidewalk), as soon as your inside tire touches the bottom of the sidewalk cut your steering wheel all the way and slowly pull in to the driveway. This will cause your outside tire to lift off the ground and raise your font end enough to get into the driveway without scraping. When pulling out of the driveway, reverse at a hard slant with the wheels straight and as soon as your inside tire meets the transition (area where flat part of driveway meets the top of the sidewalk) cut your steering wheel all the way and slowly back up. This will cause your outside tire to raise off the ground giving you the clearance you need. To get your car at the proper slant when reversing, you pretty much have to use the whole driveway so your car is once again almost parrallel to the sidewalk..... so if there is another car in the driveway it might be difficult. It might take some practice but once you get the hang of it you will be so happy. Hope this helps!

I know Xico designed a metal skip plate that he mounted on the bottom of his teachart bumper.
