996 Turbo sputtering bad under load
Actually. That part number I listed is old and the new coil packs ARE taller and need longer bolts, but what about cylinder number 5? What will fit under that hard water line? Definitely not the taller coil packs? ECS is not much help at all on this subject. They said they "Don't know". I just ordered the 5 then and longer bolts. Now what can fit on number 5?
I was able to fit the taller new style coils under the tube there on #5 no problem. For bolts i purchased a bag of the standard SST hex head (10mm) cap screws from Mc Master and used them on all the coils with no washers. Shields fit just fine
That's strange? From what I'm reading all over this forum is that the new coil packs won't fit. Think it's the bolt that gets in the way? That makes sense to me as a typical bolt might be able to turn with an open end wrench under the pipe, but can't get a socket on the top I'm guessing???

I usually change them every 10k miles or so, I do NOT change the gap, unless you are running crazy boost, I would leave as is. Make sure you torque them to spec.
You can probably run them longer, I'm guessing 15k isn't out of the question. I'm in SoCal and run ****ty 91 octane, so you have to run a bit richer to avoid detonation, which likely will shorten plug life.

SWEET!!! The "normal bolt" does look like it would be much easier to torque with a standard wrench and fit into those tight places easier. What is the thread on those? 10mm head, 40mm length, what is the thread size? Thx so much man!!!
M6 × 0.75 mm
40mm Fully Threaded Fine 10mm 4mm 100,000 ISO 4017, DIN 933 10 92800A186 5.63
Does this look correct? 10mm hex head, fine thread, 4mm bolt head height. From Mcmaster

i even listed the BOLT PART numbers! lol
you're making this far more difficult than it is

+100. This is all tried and true.
Possible solution.
Been having the same issue with my 03TT. Been scouring everywhere to find a solution before I start dumping wads at it. I initially thought the fuel pump. I swapped the fuel pump, and filter. Made it a little better, but was still there. But I did notice a bunch of dark almost black fuel pour out the back of the filter. I found another member on here that described his fuel filter as having the same issue, along with his car having the same hesitation. He changed his plugs and coil packs also. But his mechanic had found a blockage in the fuel line. Blasted it out with compressed air. Put the car back together, and its right as rain.
So its easy enough to disconnect from the front and filter an blast it out. Worth a shot in book.

I haven't started putting new coil packs in yet. They keep arriving with broken tabs. Have 9 and only 4 have all the tabs. I'm gonna have to find a good way to secure them b4 I start. Heard liquid electrical tape fills in the tabs and holds like weak plastic and good for 250 degrees F. The tape/plastic comes off easily when unclipping them he says, so no build up or something to mess anything up.
