12 years of ownership over here, with gradual performance improvements over the years. Will never sell the car, have been able to modify it so I can keep up with later generations.
On the California unhappiness, I hear ya. But please, can you guys try NOT to move to Central Oregon ? The current influx of former CA residents is changing our political landscape, turning a solid red county into a blue one. If people are so unhappy that they move State, why do they want to impose their failed policies on a different region in the US ? Off my soap box now, enjoy your car

That's happening in Idaho as well. They leave their destroyed area and bring the same ideas that caused those problems with them and vote for them. I guess I'll move to the next state when the time comes. Idaho is an incredible place to drive as well. We're kind of welfare babies when it comes to federal road funding so we have perfect roads with nobody on them.
no one will ever be able to explain why ( insert descriptive pejorative here ) move from one failed state, only to bring their idiocy only to ruin another.
The situation in Central Oregon is so bad we even have bumper stickers to discourage them from moving here. Attached picture shows my pickup which I primarily use to get to the trailheads.
i find the two inseparable. except perhaps as regards oil and plugs
driving to a shop tomorrow to follow a friend who cant get his cat monitors to "readiness" for the CA smog test ( typical ).
after he is done, i will meet this local shop owner to discuss a door micro-switch replacement and an n75 r&r. since i can't get to my pals shop 2 hours away in this heat.
all part of the joy of which you speak. still i have been exceedingly fortunate with this car at 167+k miles.
I agree. I use the same philosophy and tell my young boys how they should pick their wife. "Don't be fooled by the big "headlamps"(especially fake ones). Look at what's inside. The big round oval headlamp does not guarantee the longevity and stability of a happy marriage. The performance does. Get a thorough PPI." I don't know if they will ever understand me.
167+k miles is a very impressive number. I admire it. I won't be able to achieve it even if I was given another three lives. I remember a few times that I got stuck in the LA traffic and hated myself why driving a manual. It was extremely painful driving a fast car slow.
I took the advantage of this crazy time. They roads were empty. I took it out for a spin this morning. It was such a wonderful experience and reminded me why we all love it so much. I felt like dancing with it while a hard cornering. I do feel my skill is rusted and am getting old. I only managed to put another 10~12 miles to the top of 25k+ miles. Sorry I really tried to drive it as much as I could.
