Thee sure is something going on with the fact that some people cannot accept the fact that the STOCK Z06 if faster than a STOCK TT, GT3 and GT2. Can't understand why some people just cannot accept that fact. It doesn't make the Porsche any better or worse....just slower.
IMHO, the C6 ZO6 is a tremendous achievement and a car deserving of everyone's respect, regardless of whether you like the car, and regardless of whether it is or is not faster than any other particular car.

I can't wait until they actually test these 2 cars on the same track with the same conditions instead of everybody throwing out numbers that without normalizing are basically meaningless when compared to each other.
PS : rumor (debated) on the Vette boards that ATI tried to SC an Z06 & wound up blowing a piston through the engine @ 6 psi

Whether it was a bad tune, or the fact that the car is running compression ratio of 11.1 to 1 & won't react well to FI period is the debate.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Z06 is a remarkable car for $70K, just wondering how far they will be able to push this engine without building up the bottom end.

If the 997 gt3 wouldn't have come out, I would've happily baught a ZO6. I've seen a C6 ZO6 in action on the track and even though it was the first time out on any track for the guy, he did very well. Lots of potential and the best bang for the buck.
ok Dragon... there's like 2 people here (if that) who think a chipped 996TT can beat a C6 Z06.. how many members are here in 6speed? and to go off on that LS1 forum (why should we even care what they think) and pass on ignorance of a couple...
besides, saying "car A can take car B" means it is possible the favorite could lose since performance of both are close enough to be a driver's race.
all things equal C6 Z06 wins DUH
Let me also reiterate the C6 Z06 is probably the best bang for the buck car out there.. it's fantastic car.

I hope the new 997 turbo out performs the C6Z (it should for twice the price), but with only 480 hp, I am a little skeptical. I would have hoped Porsche would have turned the boost up a little more to obtain at least 520+ horsepower.
However, the acceleration times quoted by Porsche sound promising, since they generally are conservative. Let's hope the conservative string continues.

If only I could push my track car budget up another $30k, the C6Z would be in my driveway.
