Brake pad service warning light

Car is 2002 996tt. I got brake pad warning light, not because of worn pads, but because of broken sensor and/or wire. Since I have my car serviced every 3,000 miles so I'm not worried about real brake pad wear. Is there an easy way to getting rid of the warning light? To replace all four wire looms I'm quoted $1,000. Thanks!

Fairly certain you can just connect the wires together and zip tie them out of the way, many do this. Should be well documented in the forum.

When you say "wire looms" - you mean the actual harness going out to the wheel carriers? Or the cheapo $12 wires that actually plug into the pads themselves?

I've had to replace the harness and did so myself - see this post. $1k seems about right for a shop to do it, if you're not willing to solder and splice.

If it's just the cheapo $12 sensor wires, for my track pads which have no holes for them to stick to, I got rid of the warning by just cutting the old ones at the connector, soldering the leads together, and putting a bit of heat shrink for good measure. Plug them back into the connectors on the wheel carriers and voila, warning goes away.
