996tt 180mph 1/2 mile , 200+ 1 mile build ideas?
Hey Guys, Thinking of building my 996tt. Want to do 180mph in the half mile and over 200 in the full mile. I know its been done a few different ways but was going to post on here to see what you guys think. Want to see if I will have enough power to get me on the right path. Here is a list of what I plan on doing.
-900-950whp is the target.
996 engine build with only pauter rods ( stock pistons)
Arp head studs
gt30r turbos
4” intercoolers
1300cc injectors running in race gasoline
fuel pump setup with an lines
Full RWD conversion
LSD for tranny
carbon clutch setup
on the ecu could I get away with a Cobb or stock tuned ecu or would need to convert? Also anything else needed internally in the tranny?
Thanks in advance for any info and appreciate any information and feedback.

i have a set of newly refreshed and upgraded (cartridges/blades) tial 3076 turbos IF you are interested
they will certainly give you the HP you'd like. you can get away with stock ECU, have todd @ protomotive tune it, done.
tranny wise, 2nd gear detent, tranny mounts and bushings....with what you are doing i would look into 997 gt2 gear sets or beefed up (check out bill radner)
one thing you overlooked are BRAKES.....and really good tires. (dont forget suspension) stock 996tt is floaty at speed, the car will feel like its about to fly and not in a good way.

I have upgraded TIAL turbos that we recently tested on my new motor and did 960 rwhp. In marketplace.

Couple thoughts:
Wouldn't rely on stock ECU for knock management for 1/2 and 1 mile applications. I ran stock ecu with Protomotive tune and was exceptional for street. But... even Todd would recommend stand alone for more extreme events. 1/2 & 1 mile is extreme. Cost is high for Syvecs and Motec, but you are entering the power levels where it needs to be looked at.
If you decide to upgrade your mezger, contact Chris Cervelli on his motor builds. I cannot think of any other builder/tuner that has yielded more hp with less boost. See John Sellinger's results. I will have results to publish in a couple weeks. He is nearly complete with his CTSR motor - 4.0L, Carillo rods, bigger head studs and a ton of mods to oil pump, intake manifold etc.
My build goal is 1,100+ last dyno showed the 960 with the smaller turbos. We will see new numbers very soon!

Google "Pineapple Express Build Thread" and you will see one that was built to what you are looking into. Really if you go this far you need a whole transmission build and basically everything so you should be a 1200hp car or somewhere around there. This would cost quite a pile of money so most people stick with the 700hp builds where the transmission might survive.
