StSupDog is infamous around these parts
I hear ya....I've had Stick in my previous sports cars....I would deff get a 6spd Porsche but, in these cars the auto's are Quicker out of the whole and midrange...in an Auto, it's like one continuous pull of G-force (no Boost drop)....Less noise, more comfort, etc....It has it's Pro's and Con's... If I had my way I would also have a 6spd sitting in my garage..

Sweet car StSupDog.

Mods we need to get these threads moved to off-topic or other cars where they belong. Not 996 Turbo Related.

Ahh yes i see man, each have their pros and cons! Even in the 996tt's, the no lag between shift just has continuous pull, but its still noticeable slower then a 6speed when i went up against a friends!

Oh well, beautiful car

Yes it has ... It is nice to see other Supra owners here sharing their passion for the car...This thread has been 'cross-posted' on viperalley and Supraforums as well as referenced by four others forums....and thouse forums have formed their own discussions (see what you started Craigs )...

I never thought that this thread would receive the interest that it has. I will keep posting new photos (to a certain point) as they are taken..Thanks everyone for a great thread!

Note: If you own a supra, please post some photos on this thread...

A lot of my pals have high HP Supras but they all remind me of the Millenium Falcon... you have to hit them a lot with a hydrospanner but when they hold together they hit hyperspace speeds...

My old car was running 18 psi when you raced him. I adjusted the wastegate to be on spring only and NO boost control. Race gas wouldn't mean much without another 12+ psi boost. He also had a pump gas map at the time (read, low timing).

That was Silvinos old car from San Jose. The new owner changed turbos and yes he was running race gas (If you zoom in on the Video, you can see the white exhaust tip)...The other car was Nicks from Newtech Performance...a 9second street Camaro..a deep sleeper...he is now going to a 422cu twin turbo setup...
Are thouse 20inch Rims on your Viper??? Great Color combo...I am located in Las Vegas and Northern California, depending on weather etc..I think it would be a fun run against the Supra, once it is finished....I accept! I will be in San Antonio this summer for about a week....maybe we can set something up??

I must say, as I learn about the Supra's I am warming to them.
I test drove (beat) one when the twin turbo came out in 1995 or so.
Is the car I drove the same ones that they are modding with huge
single turbo?
Did anyone see or purchase the video; Beyond the Quarter Mile.
One of the locals in that video supposedly winds it up to 200 MPH and
breaks some bearings/rods and he tears it completely down that same night.
It shows his speedo and tach and the car definitely hauls ***!!
Anyone know of this car (it would most likeley be east coast, NY or NJ.
Marty

Marty,

The Supra turbo came out in 1993 as I had one of the first ones in my area. Little did I know that they would become modding monsters! I sold mine in 1996 for an Acura NSX-T.
