ABS/PSM : MAF Prob??
ABS/PSM : MAF Prob??
Hey guys, i just installed my FVD race pipe's today, had fun with it all day, boy is it loud but intoxicating sound from outside, still dont know if im keeping them on because WOW, only way to describe it but everyone seems to love it because of how insane it is for a porsche to hear turbo's like crazy and so on, oh well..
Well tonight after driving around with a friend, we swapped so i could hear it, after numerous pulls 2nd or 3rd gear slightly, he wasnt going all out, we were coming up my block and little puffs of black smoke were pouring out and when he pulled it in my driveway, he said the PSM/ABS light came on and it wouldnt boost. At first im like ****, must be blown hose or something, but i asked Evan and he said sounds def. like a MAF sensor problem , it blew.
Thing is, i just changed it 2 weeks ago, brand new MAF sensor when i did oil change, now im wondering if this will continue to happen and why it is, and if theres a good chance these straight's are def. coming out then.
Thanks for the help guys.

Like I said, for the a hose blow off the CEL would flash for sure (I have had it happen to me b4).
The MAF is just a guess based off the lights, but no way for me to really know...
If it is the MAF, the straight pipes wouldn't be the thing causing it, I ran them for over 8,000 miles without issue!
Hopefully someone else can confirm what I said or suggest somthing else!

I had 100 cells with streight pipes and never a cel... but it martins case its different since he is using the cat bypass pipes...
I dont see how a MAf can be blown...... get tester hooked up....

Martin,
That sux, but I can tell you that I never had any driveability issue with the straight pipes besides the codes they threw for "cat efficency".
I cant see how the pipes can cause the MAF sensor go bad, double check all your hoses for sure.

Damm guys hmm, i really think and thought it was a hose, because when i changed the spark plugs, the hose wasnt clamped down tight enough and the same thing happened, popped off and psm/abs lights came on, bah oh well, thanks .
Hey but has anybody else had the ABS/PSM light go on like that? I had it happen to me today going up to turn 6 at Homestead Raceway in Miami. Locked up the fronts (ripped the tires apart) and did an oddroad adventure into the catch area...No fun. I'm really curious to know if anyone else has had this ABS/PSM light issue and what they might have done to fixe it.

Well guys, wasnt a MAF sensor problem after all or straight pipe sissue and i knew it!! It sounds 100x better then yesterday and also is much faster! A boost hose wasnt tightened up all of the way last night, one clip bent and that's why it eventually blew off and probably why it was so loud. When i got to the shop the complete hose going into the drivers side rear intercooler was blown off and the clip was a bit bent i guess from one side staying on, cars quieter but still damm loud, i like it
