Evo Stage 4 question: boost

Hey guys,

With the evo stage 4 package, i was told to expect 1.2 bar. my question is when should I see it? any gear..WOT? or just 4th gear WOT? I've pushed the car a couple times now and only see spikes of 1.1 (brief) I'll see 1.0 easily and all the time. Is this something to worry about?

thanks

you should be at 1.2 bars sustained... stock k24 wastegates dont hold the boost that well... the flat flutters and you loose boost.... My old FVD stage 4 also had k24s.. . great.. but I had to work them in order t dial in the boost....
You need to be at 1.2 bars if really want to see results... otherwise you could have kept ur k16s and run a stage 2 that runs on 1 bar as well.
WGs upgrade kit will help. call ur tuner and ask to take care of this.

Todd my stage 4 package was always holding 1.2bar and spikes of 1.3. Check the hoses - I don't think you have the silicone hoses do you? Also, do what Mark said in regards to the wastegates.

There's a substantial hp difference from sustaining 1.0 to 1.2 Bar. On a well tuned car you should see an early steady and sustained boost all throughout RPM and gears creating a smooth curve on the dynograph.

Thanks Mark and Jags,

My car had the x50 K24's already. I don't have hoses. The evo upgrade was suppose to come with wastegate calibration. Is that was you are talking about? I'm going to ask Alex about it. I'm planning to take it in soon for a dyno. He can do a little tuning then

My X50 stage 4 holds boost exactly the same as yours does (1-1.1)so no i dont think its anything to worry about, although i have seen peaks of 1.3bar.

Stock k24s are happy and max out at 1.2 bars... but the stiffer springs will make the turbo come alive.... quicker spool and holds boost, unlike the dreaded drop off on a highway pull in 5th gear form 1.2 bars to 1.1...thats ur sign that the stock wastegates are not holding the pressure and the flap is fluttering... this is a hardware issue.. not software...
there is more room for a k24 to run only 1 bar of boost...so I suggest to get a hold of ur tuners and gets some extra 60 HP you deserve.

I only have a GIAC stage 2 with stock k16's, but hit 1.3 in 3rd gear and up and it drops to a 1.2 and holds there steady. In second, never see above 1.2, but hold a steady 1.1. I assume this is not normal for k16's.

1.3 with k16's??? All major tuners say no and they're probably right thus you're overreving them as tuners claim they tend to pack at over 1.1bar...

1.3 is a bit excessive for K16's we usually run .9 with stock K16's and that gets about 485hp and on stock K24's 1.1.

My stock K16's i would say are about maxed out. Without a v flow but FVD straight pipes and wastegate adjustment the car made some significant power, it holds a 1.1-1.0 steady now, i never see .8-.9 anymore.

The guy seeing 1.3 on K16's def. is not right, its overworking those turbo's badly, at that bar i wouldnt be surprised if your losing power? And for the stg 4 at only 1 bar, something is loose!!

You need 100 octane/race map to get 1.2 bar. Or GT700 .....

I disagree- I never used my race file on my stage 4 and always hit 1.2bar.

1.2 is standard on 91, 93 or 100.
