Supercars

As all these new Supercars come out:

Enzo
Carrera GT
SLR

I start to think yes if I had oodles of money I would love one but for one heck of a lot less money my little RED BEAST will outrun anyone of them and I have a very custom looking car modded to my liking.

So bring on those Enzo's, Carrera GT's and SLR's let the RED BEAST embarrass you and make you wonder why you spent so much money to be left in the dust by a little old 996tt!

I think we drive supercars - these are exotics that people leave in a garage to avoid us.

Buddy,

You may outrun them in a straight line, but do you really think you could beat them on a track? There may be an opportunity for you to find out w/a CGT @ Mid-OH.

Yea but 399 Enzos are made and 70 hit the U.S., thats what production should be like on a supercar not 1,500 cars like the CGT, and the is exclusive to own, the SLR is ugly IMO.

I don't think that beating on the track will be a problem either. I am not running stock suspension. Bring it on!

So you've upgraded your suspension, but what about your aerodynamics? Do you think your modifications will give you more aerodynamic and mechanical grip than these purpose built cars?

Interesting...I believe most people who get these cars get them because they can and enjoy the uniqueness and artistic engineering mastery, not to mention the ultimate in poser characteristics. They are probably not too concerned about super charged vipers, ect developing significantly more horsepower. They are the types who like an expensive and rare Mouton Rothchild reserve wine as opposed to a stock Modavi off the shelves. Not a bad position to be in, IMHO...

For a minute I thought this was a Corvette Forum...they also think that if you spend more money on a car there is supposed to be an equal increase in performance (some sort of performance to cost ratio).

I don't think people who buy the cars you mentioned buy them believing they can leave every modded car out there in the dust.

Both the Enzo and GT are hot. But, for me, it has to be the '98 GT1. Jas, I agree 100%. The SLR is just the ugliest thing ever. I can't believe those things are sold out for 3 years! Oh...the F40 is'nt too bad either..

Aerodynamic mods are in the works! I understand that people that have the means to buy these cars probably don't give a rats *** about a modified 996 turbo. I am just saying for me it is nice to have what I have. Besides the fact I can't afford one of those supercars anyways!

Believe me if I had the money I would buy an ENZO!

while we are on the subject of "Bang for the Buck" Why don't one of us grab a Suzuki Hyabusa and slap on a t3/t4 hybrid and spank everything in sight for under 30K, Weather permitting of course. But I agree with buddy the 996tt is a force to be reckoned with in terms of Haulin' butt. And fairly cost effective and very user friendly, so docile even your mother could drive it without scaring herself half to death. Yes the 996tt may be the ultimate everyday supercar!!!

Hey Buddy, ... PUT THE EGG NOG DOWN! EGG NOG IS FOR CLOSERS ONLY.

Seriously, Buddy, we both agree you would smoke the Enzo in a straight line, but unless a pud is driving the enzo, on the track he would beat you, maybe not destroy you, but darn close. First off, sequential tranny ... you and God can't shift your car anywhere near as fast as he can. Secondly, you have about a 500lb weight problem. Third, tires, 245/345 vs 225/295. Fourth, much lower cg and active suspension. Fifth, much better aerodynamics.

You would be in way serious trouble on the track.
