Can I just say that Milltek system I would expect to be one of the best around! I had this for my RS4 (full system) and the quality was by far one of the best, I spent half the day looking at the workmanship of the product, lol. I decided not to go for it for the Porsche, at the time as it was a 200cell Cat and wanted the 100cell, maybe this has changed now as it was a year ago or so! It really comes down to personal preference with an exhaust, I love to here the sound when I hit the pedal some prefer it quieter (you guessed I have the Fabspeed, lol) and I feel the performance of the Fabspeed is pretty good, but would highly recommend a Milltek to anyone.

Quality British product, lol

If you really want quiet, get a custom made RUF "quiet" version. It is virtually identical to stock sound (just a shade louder) with the 100 cell cats and RUF interior design. I had the standard RUF and it was too loud and droned while cruising at 2000-3000 RPMs. This was RUF's answer - they swapped me at no charge. If you really want quiet with the upgraded performance - this is it. According to RUF, there is no loss in performance. The quietness is achieved by retaining the stock single outlet, instead of the twin tips. This means you can/must use any version of the stock tips, as well. I remain totally pleased with this exhaust after 4 years and 50,000 miles.

New will be more than $4K, but there were couple used set at for sale section last couple weeks within your budget.

is has to specifically be the quiet one though, that uses the single tips. I don't want people to know i have 600hp if i do this, plus i don't want it to be droning and annoying to drive. I bought a porsche because its classy, if I wanted a loud race car to annoy everyone with i would have bought a Z06 and ran a straight pipe / test-pipe / off-road / race-pipe exhaust.

Hi Split,

You are very unlikely to find a used RUF quiet exhaust. I heard of a car in the past week that had one on it and it is only the 4th one I have ever heard of - and I have been on the boards daily since before the 996 was introduced. The quiet version is priced identical to the standard RUF exhaust, which was over 5K when I bought mine - I forget the exact price. After just one week with the standard RUF exhaust on my 45 minute commute (country roads), I wanted it off - even though I enjoyed the added performance. If you are sensitive to the sound, it would be well worth it in the long run to just pay up front and enjoy - the hassle and cost of swapping exhausts trying to find the right sound will quickly add up and if you really want quiet - this may be the only choice for a performance exhaust.

Ruf designed this exhaust to work with their K16/24 hybrid turbo used in the RUF Rturbo. The RUF cars are well known as being extremely quick and the RUF exhaust is perfectly tuned to this size/style turbo. According to RUF, the larger plumbing of some other exhausts is OK beyond 600 HP, but they use this exhaust for a good reason. In other words, they feel it is perfectly matched and tuned to their 550 package, which I believe is very similar to the EVO stage 3 / 4 packages. In fact, I think EVO may use the K16/24 hybrids in their stage 3 or 4. So, although I am not certain, my feeling is that the RUF would be a very good choice considering your goals.

TechArt works fine. It is made by Supersprint and very costly.

I second the wastegate spring mod. I wasn't happy with of my mods until I had this mod performed.

It really woke up my car and proved to be the missing link...

JohnDII: the pictures of your car are awesome!
