I think the "stories" that are required to sell this car affect the price significantly. That said, it's obviously a great deal.

If the VIN doesl not show in insurance databases, it may make this car un-insurable... or at least expensive to insure.

I would think that the main obstacle with this one would be to get it EPA approved -- but it already has a FL title...sooooo

I think if the car has a FL title, you can probably register and insure it. If you cannot insure it, you have to call the insurance company and apply gray market insurance - if they do it. I don't know how they get cars through the ports without a RA. If I would have known how to do it I'd have saved some serious cash.

If it's a euro model, why does it have the rear bumperettes? Maybe bumper was replaced to US spec?

Hmmm... perhaps it is a 2001 model, since it was released in Europe a year before the States.

The face-lifted 996 with the glovebox were actually here around Oct/Nov 2001 and they came with the gloveboxes. We have an early GT2 with steel brakes, I'll ask around if it has a glovebox or not.

If that car is in Europe it has US specs, because it is a left hand drive and the speed is in mph. The only cars in europe with the speed in mph are from UK but these ones are right hand drive.

Tiago, you could change the speedo to read MPH. Guys in the UK who buy German market cars do it all the time.
