Questions for the track/product recomendations/vendor recomendations
OK I decided to just spend the money for my DE after having nightmares about crashing. I have a few questions about where to buy some of this stuff and what exactly to buy so if you have any advice on the following please let me know:
Helmet: I am thinking of a Bell Helmet thats the base fiberglass model but SA 2005, and I am thinking of an open face model. Where should I buy one, anything special to look for?
Brakes: Going with Padgid Orange Pads, where do I buy them at the best price
PSS9: Advice on track settings? (Track I'm going to is Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course)
Alignment: I'm thinking moderate to aggressive, toe out in the front, toe in for the back (to add stability at high speeds), not too much camber for tires wear. Comments/Suggestions???
Tape: Whats the best thing to cover the front of the car from rock chips? Are there a lot of rock chips in a DE, should I cover the whole front end, or just the lights. (car has 7000 miles on it, VERY good condition and I would like to keep it that way)
Gloves: Are gloves a good idea? The sessions will only last 30min but I am wondering if my hands will get sweaty. I never understood if people used gloves mostly for fire protection, or to reduce moisture/slip in the wheel from sweat, or both. If gloves are a good idea what kind, how much, what should I look for.
Shoes: Got this one covered
Tech Inspection: Already have the form, and scheduled a mechanic to look at the car (Not a dealer because I like my warrenty
)
Video: Do you guys mount the cameras on your roll bars? Is there a way to do it with a roll bar?
If you can think of anything else that is really important I would appreciate it since this is my first track event, minus driving school, but they took care of everything.
Thanks a lot guys,
Bill

Pagid Oranges from Viper Bob @ 650-743-6801 (florida)
Tape: Blue painter's tape from 3M of course. (if you want
additional protection, use duct tape over the blue tape). remove
blue tape right away and you have no residue of any kind.
I bought new BELL full coverage for fit, not name. You must try
them on and make sure it is snug and does not slide around on your
head even before you strap it.
I think Brey Krause and many companies offer camera bar mount.
Get better than stock brake fluid also.
good luck, I left my PSM on also.

First off I cant tell you how happy I am you are going to a DE!!! Congrats, your appreciation of your car will be greater than ever!! Next piece of advise...DONT WORRY ABOUT HURTING SCRATCHING BREAKING OR ABUSING YOUR CAR!!! You wont, and oh yea dont worry about crashing you wont. worst case senerio you go off track....no big deal. I have tracked the hell out of my TT and ask Marty what my car looks like. I dont do all that blue tape crap it just messes up my karma...I have a clear bra on and dont worry about running close to anyone....ok tape your headlights if you want.
forget the camera crap if you really care have one of your buddies film you from his car.
gloves are a must. Have your brake fluid flushed before the event and replace with either superblue<motul<castrol SRF. Pads if you go to orange must be properly bedded in.
concentrate on learning how to drive your car and learn the line of the track, you will not be "racing"
take a cooler, cold drinks, chairs, and snacks.
getting magnetic car numbers is nice as well.
A neck collar will help also.
Follow Marty's advise...do a search this has been talked about ALOT!!! or pm me!!!!
most important....HAVE FUN let us know how it goes
PS keep your hot tire temps at 40psi and check them often they really heat up, start at 34f 36r
