PSS9/Suspension question

I hated the way the 996TT handled with the standard US suspension and put the PSS9's on about 9 months ago. The handling and ride is much better, but the car still has an annoying "bobble" at times. I notice this everyday in my drive to work, going downhill around a sweeping bend. There's a bump in the road and when I go over it, the car gets unsettled and then the front end bobbles quite a bit. Don't know how else to describe it.

I have 19" Continentals, which I don't like, but I don't think they're the culprit as I had 18" Michelins on before with the stock suspension and the bobble was much worse.

Anyway to fix this without ruining the street ride comfort of the car? I have the PSS9's set at 4F, 3R. I can go stiffer, but not sure if that will help the problem. I can't see how different sway bars would make a difference in this situation, but some have suggested that.

Is it just the short wheelbase of the 911 combined with the relatively lighter front end of the car that makes it handle like this? I have an M5 (with the PS2's) which can take the corner as fast or faster without getting unsettled at all.

Mark

Well the easy way to try it is to go lower with the PSS9 after all it takes like 5 minutes to change. I do not know myself, but I have heard that the 19" affect handling as well...maybe it is the combination. BTW the settings on the PSS9 are not to make the shock "stiffer". They adjust the dampening of the shock (speed at which it rebounds so to speak).

Make sure the settings are still at 4F/3R. If one side is not same as the other it can do that. Also, the light front end is something you will have to get used to but that much bobble sounds suspicious. You might want to check the tire pressures and inspect the sway bars.

I have seen these too on my car. The "pogo'ing" effect seems to happen more when car is unsettled around fast sweepers. Adjusting it to stiffer setting wont make it go away.

For most people , the PSS9's seem to be suffcient, especially to change ride height and cruising on good roads.

I'm changing to Moton Clubsport (another Sharkwerks project)

I have driven another 6-speeders car with MOTONs and the difference was significant.

Try either the GT2 or H&R Sway Bars

I also have the PSS9 and noticed the bobbing effect, especially around corners with bumps. Although it will stiffen up the ride somewhat, especially on fast left/right or right/left transitions, consider installing stiffer sway bars. I went with the H&R sway bars front and rear, and it almost completely eliminates the bobbing effect. The ride is somewhat firmer, roughly equivalent of going from 4 to 3 on the PSS9s. As far as I can tell the stock bars are hollow, but the H&R bars are solid. The H&R bars are three position adjustable and I have mine set in the middle position front and rear. I am considering moving the front to the softest postion to dial out more of the understeer. If the bobbing bothers you that much and you don't mind a slightly stiffer ride, consider a sway bar upgrade.
