100 Octane Gas !!! Stock 996tt

My car is completly stock. If I manage to get gasoline rated at 100 Octane, Will I see any real changes in: 0 to 60, 1/4 mile, top speed ????

No. The cars are tuned from the factory for either 93 or 95 octane fuel (I forgot which one). Absent specific tuning to take advantage of higher octane (e.g., adjustments to timing and/or boost), using anything above 93/95 octane will not improve performance in any meaningful way, if at all.

Thanks Craig. I guess the only way to take advantage is to have the fuel map tuned to that octane level !!!!

Yeah, GIAC has a specific "race" program that might be able to utilize 100 octane fuel a bit better. Give you leaner A/F ratios, allow you to turn up your boost a bit without risking detonation as much.

Yeah it serves no purpose unless you have your car tuned for it. My Supra is tuned for 116 octane race gas!

Yes those Octane Boosters don't do crap, they can't even boost up the octane by a 1 octane! Don't waste your money on those stuff. Just go get real race gas.

Not all of them. Sport Compact Car did a recent study on this. They had a few octane boosters vs. Toulene. The NOS off road formula did the best pushing regular 91 octane to 94, but this isn't your Pep Boys 99 cents a bottle stuff. It is like $8/bottle. The other ones pushed it up about 2 points (Cheater brand), to less than a point (regular stuff). The small bottles that claim up to 8-9 octane points are bunk. If you can find 100 octane at the gas station, I would say go for it.

What about mixing 100 octane with 91 to get around 95? Would that give noticeable performance improvements??

I dont understand..

You people know that you wont be getting horsepower improvements if you increase the grade of fuel right?

I mean unless you have altered your car for higher compression or boost...

Higher octane = greater potential energy

Doesnt the car retard the timing for 91 octane fuel? If its normally tuned for 93 or 95 like stated earlier, it must be retarding the timing for the 91. Just like it would pull back the timing if you accidentally put in 87 octane. I dont know Im just speculating but someone here must know.
