That is where I am at.
Great problem to have but I don't my wife or myself for that matter saying I told you so. After buying either one and realizing should have gone the other way.

If it was my decision knowing what i know now. I would go GT3.

Not to get off track but the M3 is an absolutely fantastic daily driver. Good torque, high reving, 4 seats, free maintenance, it's the closest thing to a GT3 without being one. The geatness of a car is on only apparent by how badly you miss when it is gone. I bet the new 8000+ RPM 400+ HP M will be a sweet ride.
I can see the attraction of the GT3 after deciding on a turbo. Never understood why GT3s aren't wide bodied.
Cars, like the oppositte sex, tend to make the mind wander. You think you want something sooo bad, but then you get attracted to the exact opposite. Just be happy happy that with cars you can get divorced as often as you can afford to.
Now only if the the GT2 = GT3 turbo
High revving and 500HP with more boost to come aftermarket.

You have to drive them literally BACK to BACK. Have both of them ready to drive and get out of one and into the other. If you drive the turbo and hop into a GT3 you will feel like you came out of a GT and into a race car. I drove both cars back to back and although I was already pretyt much set in my mind on a GT3, it kinda sealed the deal for me. The turbo is an AMAZING machine, it makes for one hell of an all around sports car, probably the best there is imho. But in terms of fun factor and track ability it does not offer what the GT3 can. I am a track junkie and do not really mind driving the GT3 daily so I gave up on the ability to drive with some more creature comforts in exchange for the track readiness of the GT3.
Honestly, you broke it down pretyt good in your pros and cons, but I guess it depends really on what within those pros and cons become the "deal breakers" for you. I say go drive them back to back and see what you think.

The 996 GT3 might actually become one of the "keepers" soon given the word that all non convertable 997 cars (GT3, GT3RS and GT2 included) will only come with sunroof Stateside. True, Porsche (marketing dept) will likely sell every one but the slippery slope has started. What next? Hope the info turns out to be wrong but many sources have verified

Luis,
Really nice GT3, a definite keeper. For me, it's less busy and more elegant looking than the new version. One of the reasons for buying the GT3 was that aside from a good alignment, it's good as is. Keeping mine mostly stock aside from a few minor tweeks. I was constantly modding my turbo to get that GT/RS feel. It started to turn into Franken-Porsche. Not easy to create the primal feel of a GT3. Too bad Porsche marketing appears to be moving toward a more generic version with the new ones.

just after a short drive in the GT3. oh boy i'm telling u the choice is clear. if u're looking for a fun car not a daily drive the GT3 is the way to go. it's the best 996 ever made, except Garrett's monster GT2.
