996 GT3 or 996TT
Alright, I'm starting to narrow my field, I rode in a GT3 yesterday and its just primal. I was surprised at how quick it was, I had driven one previoulsy but did not really get on it so that was a cool surprise. Doubt I would listen to the stereo, the engine sounds incredible and made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. My test pilot (Luis) did some power oversteer and the thing just sticks like glue.
Pro's GT3
Newer 04' 05', lower miles, a lot more unique (only) 800?? or so cars imported to US between 04-05, very few 05's. Very quick, probably even with a stock TT, definetly outhandle a TT. Stellar engine note and stratospheric 8250 rpm redline. The big sell? Unbeatable for a hardcore visceral street legal race car, sure to withstand severe abuse and the test of time.
Con's
Loud, sports seats are not the best fit for me, very stiff ride (Phoenix streets are for the most part very smooth). Insurance costs, no back seat. The deal breaker? I wonder how much I would really drive it on a day to day basis, can I really live with it? Can I be happy driving my truck a little more and the P-car a little less?
The turbo IMO is a lot more refined than the GT3, I consider it a super GT. Gobs of power and AWD to get it down. Very easy to drive fast around town but a bit heavy on the track. Still unique, but still lots of them around. It does not feel as fast as the GT3 but it probably is at least in a straight line. Lots and lots of potential.

Very livable, back seat for kid duty means TT gets more daily use. I like the look of the Turbo substantially more than the GT3, easier to find, but for same money it will be an 02-03' model. Cheaper to insure. Big sell? Very easy to bump power and substantially. 500hp cheap & reliable.
Con's
More depreciation, older model, less warranty. Great driver especially around town, but not as edgy as I like (caused the demise of my C55 and M3). Deal breaker? Will it go the way of some other great cars as I continue to hunt for an even more elusive or non-existent perfect street car?
In my head, the Turbo gets the nod, but my gut says GT3....
What say you?

TT
- AWD
- detuned in stock setup and easy to add significant performance for reasonable $$$$
- depends on where you live as to how many you will see of either. I live in Central FL and hardly see any of either.
- Porsche Certified - 2yrs/100,000 miles - any year

Tough choice but it boils down to what you really value most. I was always trying to make my Turbo more GT3-like but was never able to get there. I miss the torque but the hi-reving GT3 engine has its own primal feel that is addicting. For me, it had to be a GT3 or GT2.

Honest to god, GT2 if you can. Best of both worlds the way i see it, otherwise GT3, this is how im feeling now, after modding the turbo and driving the hell out of it. Its very very fast, but just way too boring for my liking, its no joke just too bland!
I feel the way it should be now, use your daily car for your daily business, and have your straight up weekend/track/fun car to do what it does best, put a smile on your face and to go out and enjoy yourself and have fun in your car. The TT feels too liveable and like a daily driver, essentially it is but isnt, its my weekend car but doesnt feel like it

I am on teh M3>TT>GT3 program and looking to skip the TT. Like I said the TT makes the most sense, which should disqualify it from the start LOL. The GT2 is a money issue. I'd buy a new 997GT3 at that pricepoint, I just don't want to stretch for what is mostly a toy. I think I can live with a 996 GT3 for a few years and maybe get a hold of pre-owned 997 GT3 down the road which to date has been reported to be significantly easier to live with day to day than the 996..
As I mentioned to Luis, I know that once I get it I will want to drive the wheels off of it for a few months just as Luis himself has done and I just wonder if I will really enjoy pounding around the city in this car. Maybe not every day but maybe every other day.

Goodluck man, all im saying is, turbo is fast no doubt about it, just doesnt feel it and isnt a fun "weekend" type car.
I remember when you came out of your M3 and there was some discussion at that time about trying to find a more aggressive street car. I couldn't find the thread(s) but there were maybe a couple of guys who had actually gone from M3>TT and then on to a GT3 and saying basically what you are saying that maybe they should have just skipped the TT. That is where I am at.
Great problem to have but I don't my wife or myself for that matter saying I told you so. After buying either one and realizing should have gone the other way.

I went threw the same thing. I Had a sweet m3 that was just so dialed in. Got rid of it to get my TT back. Once i bought it back, i realized the M3 was more of a car for me.
If it was my decision knowing what i know now. I would go GT3.
