Click Click noise

Anyone ever hear a click, click noise coming from the rear of the car? This happens on acceleration forward and backwards from a stop. Don't know if it happens in other gears or other speeds due to road/exhaust noise. It is usually one or two clicks. I brought it to the dealer and they heard it but couldn't locate the noise. I had this happen on my navigator and it was the rear axle but the porsche dealer said it was not the axle.

Find a hill and stop the car. Turn it off, put in in neutral and let it roll. If it is the brakes or bearings, it will also make noise then. If it still makes the noise, start the car and apply the emergency brake lightly while accerating. If the noise changes, it may be the shoe on the hub making the noise.

No, doesn't make noise under coasting conditions. Only does it when you can load the weight on the rear when you accelerate.

Sway bars maybe. When I had my PSS9's done, I had a horrible clanking noise from the front and thought it was normal....but after 6 months with them on, I found out that the dealer never connected the front sway bars when they installed my suspension. Now they are quiet and never make any kind of noise.

i have a noise i think coming from the left rear wheel (?) that i initially thought was a tire rubbing that is present when coasting. however, when i touch the brakes it disappears. would a wheel bearing going out still be present when the brakes are applied?

the more i think about it, i'd equate it to the sound that the rotors and pads make after you've washed the car and let them dry and rust up and then start to drive - that chaffing noise. but that noise will disappear after you use the brakes a couple of times. this noise isn't quite as prominent but definitely is always coming back once you let off the brakes

ezmoney,

I think I have the same click on my GT2. I hear it when my window is down and I'm in 1st gear letting out the clutch as I begin to accelerate. Sometimes it'll click once but usually twice. I gotta have my dealer check this out. Let me know if you find out what it is.

I will put money on it that its your brake's or pad's. I had the same clicking, heard it when i was going slow enoughs o road or car noise didnt interrupt it, crusing in first or next to a wall, sounded like a click for each rotation of the wheel. Took it to the shop, they took the pads and everything apart, put everything back on and it was gone LOL. Weird!

Raudel, sounds like the same problem. sometimes one click, sometimes two or even three. Dealer couldn't find it so I just drive it and hope nothing falls apart.

Actually what it sounds like is a torque wrench when it clicks.
