Anyone driven the Viper SRT-10?

I saw this car at the LA Auto Show and am really impressed with it. We had a 97 Viper GTS coupe and this new car seems much much better. Has anyone driven one? I'd especially like to hear from someone who isn't blinded by the American label on the car and can give an unbiased report. Even better if you could compare it to a Turbo/GT2/GT3.

Thanks,
Steve

I have driven the car for a good bit. The car is 10 times better than the previous generation Viper but no where near the car of a 996 Porsche.

speaking of cars at the car show, i went to the SD one today and was just mesmorized by the new mustang and snored when seeing the viper. the ford gt has some presence as well and i think i'll have a hard time not buying one of those elises for a track car. can't wait to make it to the LA car show next week and see the CGT in the flesh!

in what way? i don't know that our old viper was 10x worse than the 996 so i would be interested to hear more specifics.

I just found this dyno plot of a STOCK SRT-10 showing 452.7rwhp!!

Ben,

So, did the new Mustang change from the concept much? I'm really interested in this car. I'm an old Mustang fan going back to a '65 Shelby I used to own.
An '89 GT was one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned.

Awesome. I may seriously consider one for a daily 'beater' car. (Heck of a beater!)

I have a 2004 SRT -10. Totally different driving experience. Tons of power all over the power band. Closest thing to the feel of a Jap bike on four wheels, and half the price of a new 996TT Cab. Best car out there for the money. Plus you can mod the thing to 1000 HP for under $35000.
