Black trim around windows

For some reason the black trim around my Driver and Passenger side windows looks dis-colored. Looks like it is fading in certain areas? I do not know why? THe car is garaged and only has 4k on the ODO. Has anyone had any similar problems??

jcramair1, If your talking about the rubber seals, it's probably just the rubber oxidizing. It could just abit dryed out.

Use some rubber cleaner and sealer let it absorb into the rubber, and wipe clean. The Mequires Endurance for the tires works well if it's really dryed out. Appplied liberally, let it sit out in the sun for awhile, and buff it clean.

Thanks a million oak ....I thought about doing that, but for some reason on other cars I never had this issue. What reallu shocks me is that it is kept out of the sun 24/7.....

On most euro cars, it's usually a painted metal strip with the weather seal intergrated inside.

The rubber will oxidize just sitting in your garage, if the rubber isn't conditioned very well, hard water spots will etch into and stain the rubber.

For some reason Oak my rubber seals look like they are stained. I will try what you said tomorrow. If it doesn't work I will post some pics...

Thanks,
John

Griot's

The best stuff out there is made by Griot's Garage. They have the best rubber cleaner and rubber conditioner to keep the rubber looking new. Then they have a Bumper and Trim Reconditioner that brings back the new black color. www.griotsgarage.com
