Do NOT buy this 996TT

So over on the 914club bbs, someone starts a thread entitled:
"Help me Spot the Problem, 996tt".

Here is what he writes:
>>>So, I'm at a buddy's shop yesterday, and they pull a customers 996 Turbo up on the lift, because it has an oil leak...

Hrmmm... looks like the previous owner cracked the bottom of the case and they decided to make a nice oil pan for a 996, which is attached mostly using JB Weld.

Best part is, the car is being sold (guy is a dealer), and he just wants it to stop leaking for delivery.

It works, and if I was getting the car for a helluva deal, I would drive it. But for some reason I think whoever bought it paid normal used 996TT price for it. <<<

that's bad, right?

BEST response, so far:
If I was stoopid enuff to buy a car w/o an inspection and found that out later....I be coming back with a tank and blow up the seller's house.

Course since I was stoopid enuff to buy w/o an inspection...I'd also be stoopied enuff to steal a tank.

That's flat out dishonest....

Maybe he'll sell a GT3 with a C2 engine some day too. What a crook...

How much is involved to get a new pan anyways? Doesn't look like any suspension need to be be removed and maybe just the intake pipe.

996tt doesnt have an oil pan, it is dry sump. And I am just amazed at that terrible work.
