Craig, your car has the potential to be a 9 second car but it is
so far past a GT700 that it is not even comparable.
I am waiting with anxious ears/eyes on this one...

Craig,
You are beginning to understand my skepticism and that I truly am impressed
with EVOMS more recent products, overall very, very good product.
I believe the GT700 is an amazing package!!!
Just not a "9 second" package.
I also believe that a 996TT can and actually has run in the 9's.
I wish our fellow friend (VR Alex)on this board would post his darn time slips and video.

The car was sold but i’ll offer a bit of a story about the car.
The car is a 2001 turbo yellow bought with about 16k miles used. The car was made to look stock and was built only for street racing.
The basic package was the gt700 with part of the pieces bought from other suppliers. Mostly all came from evoms. Out of the box the car was at 10.7 +/-. All tests were private since the car was made for street racing and I did not want anyone knowing its 1/4 mile times.
The car then had the turbos boosted a bit, up from 1.3 to 1.5. It went down to about 10.6 to 10.55 This was with street tires. I broke 2nd power shifting. The car was sent in for transmission work, the new transmission allowed faster shifting, a short shifter was installed, the suspension was changed, the stance was changed.
The car was noticeably faster, not many tests were done but I bought a second set of rims from ebay that brought Michelins on them. It gained just a bit with the Michelins (better kick from a stand still) and decided to consume the Bridgestone set.
The car has one pair of Michelins, the ones that come with the new 2006+ turbos and one with slick tires. I had most of the boost piping reworked and the brackets were they are connected have a second set of security brackets. With this i started to work with extra boost and all the externals were modified to allow better flow of air. The engine broke some oil lines/ pan and went back to get some work done.
When the car came out, I started working with gas and air chillers and ways to cool the inter-coolers. I also started working with race gas, Sunoco octane 130+ gas mixed with a tad of oil and lubrication. The second set of cats were cleaned to create greater flow and a custom piece was made to trick the computer into thinking the cats were installed. A metal bracket was placed right in front of the inter-coolers to allow ice and a co2 nozzle to try and freeze the inter-coolers.
I talked to some guys that changed the gas flow in the vehicle and got the pressure slightly higher since the higher boost was making the car a bit lean. We then started to work with extra boost, slicks, and some extra transmission work to allow power-shifting. The car lost some top end but made a jump when coming out of a stand still that was impressive.
Time for some engine work. The engine was then sent to have the valves and other head work done to maximize free flow. The car came back and felt safe to increase the boost just a bit more. I also placed an after-market boost limiter to lower the boost on everyday use. The limiter opened the valves to lower the boost pressure. It did not work to well as the gas flow was not according to boost at all times but did allow me to accelerate everyday without having to turn off the car, change the evoms computer from stages and then having to turn on again.
Now for a bit of weight reduction, got about 240 pounds of the car, body parts, spare wheel, back seats, door bars, etc. The car started pulling better so I decided to gain even more boost up from about 1.5 to 1.6 Worked fine until boost pipes kept unplugging and one actually burst. This time the piping was reworked and one f bracket, the one were the blow offs goes was made much much stronger and had 2 sets of brackets plus a safety (bracket that went around the f tube and around the blow off to make sure it could not disconnect)
Now I started to test .5 increments on boost and replaced parts that broke in the process. The car was made just a bit rich to conserve the engine and 1.65+ boost tests were made. The car managed to run well at around 1.6 so it was capped at 1.6 for everyday runs. The car would constantly run well, and the runs were made using a bit more revs than the car was made to handle. (you will have to guess the revs)
Now for the test, since i had one shot to win a street race, i decided to max the boost up from 1.7 (highest boost I had tested till then) and increased it to what i thought was 1.75, actually it was a bit more and kept spiking throughout the run. The car ran the race were it maxed at around 1.82 and came back to about 1.78 constantly. Took off the turbos, had them worked on just a bit and got the constant 1.8. On the 4th race at 1.8 the engine started a jumping feeling at high revs on a strong gear, 4th 5th etc. One last test was made and the car made the just barely 9 second run. The run had some trouble at high revs were the engine felt rough, it broke at the end just seconds after the run spilling all of its cooling water and went back to the shop. I even did some tests that included disconnecting the rear spoiler and cutting a bit of the front air skirt. Spoiler down actually improved my times.
Everything was fixed again, not much had happened and the boost was taken down to 1.45 again for stage 3 that made it about 1.65 on stage 4 race gas. Thats when I sold the car.
All tests of the car were done with private equipment. The car did win many street races against 10 and 9 second cars but it was built to be a ghost. It was fun sneaking up at other vehicles, thus the street club name "Sneakies". The car was known around PR as YellowBird, which was originally meant to be an insult. I dont check my email much, but leave me an email if you want me to post again. To bad I had no idea this page existed before I decided to sell my car.
I offer my data to you for fun, please take into consideration I have a second daily driver and was not upset at about 72 days of down time in the 2 years I owned the car. There are probably a few missing details since its friday and my date is waiting. Have fun taking your turbo to the limits. I surely miss mine. My racing site is www.jorgediaz.com.
Take care, have fun and drive fast but safe.

Jorge,
Welcome to 6speed. It sounds like you put together one hell of a car. How did you measure the quarter mile time? What equipment was used? Do you have any data files available?
Thanks,
Craig

Yeah, thanks for posting. What day did you run a 9 second pass at Salinas? There is a huge Australian rotary drag racing community with many mutual contacts at Salinas.
WOW!Went through all that trouble to lighten the car ,pull the motor 2 or 3 times, disassemble the the long block to do the heads, and never did the bottom end of the block? And what were all the brackets for to hold boost?Probably could have just upgraded to a GT800 w/race program and ran the same times or better for a lot less money! Doesn't make sense.
Yeah, but without video or data files of somekind, or TIMESLIPS it's STILL unverified and only based on his word which is never been enough in the hot rod community to base a new "record" on..........
If you don't have "Proof"...you don't get bragging rights where I come from....
