No. I was rushing out the door lol. The level you're at right now, trust me you're more than likely just fine. We've done about 12--13 (can't exactly) remember stage IV GT2s and those guys do Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, Sears and put thousands of miles on. For a GT2 that's a "mild" tune so don't worry.

You should be ashamed of yourself showing an Avatar like that See you tomorrow. I told James that you're next and he goes, "OK this time it's personal".

Speaking of which, is that Stephen’s old car that was tuned by Protomotive?

Did you replace the broken valves with OEM valves? The valves may be the next weak link that should be addressed after-market. I have much stronger Nimonic valves in my engine made by Ferrea. Although my valves are larger than stock, Ferrea can also make stock sized valves that will endure greater abuse.

Craig
You know us Tip-owners bring the neighborhood down so.. They're safe relatively speaking and there are just so many factors involved but I'd say this engine was a rare case and had some bad luck. One bad thing obviously led to another. Once that valve gets bent bad things happen like a chain reaction. It _needed_ new valves, guides, liners, pistons, head-work/repair, and new rods. At least the crank was spared from any harm and things could have been worse yet. Luckily he stopped driving it when the leak down was being done. I've been in the same boat and hearing the bad news like that just plain sucks, no two ways about it. My hope is that after the break-in he'll enjoy what a lof of us feel is EVO's best kit in the GT700. Quick-spooling, gobs of power and you can drive it daily. Wrap that in a 10 second car with Motons and I know he'll have fun- he deserves to that's for darned sure.

I don't know too much about the "history" of the car and as I was saying anything could have happened from over-revving, detonation/knocking and/or other things too. I think for where you're going with more revs, boost and the headwork stock valves would have been a no no. I've talked (who knows how much that is worth) to a few race engine builders that have done stuff for Jerry Woods and the Valves are further down the list of "usual suspects" and weak points according to them. This car won't be revving past stock and at the GT700 level, we're confident that it'll be hunky dorey. I know he was open to just about anything but I felt it was an unecessary additional expense at this level.

I tell you what though.. next time I bend mine I'm getting a set of yours. I still need to get more feedback from you on this tranny dealio. John/Mike said it was pretty trick but I'm enjoying the car so much now I'm hesitant to put it out of action again for something that I'm not 100% sure on.

here she was... a GT700+ on her maiden voyage going all of 15-50mph between 2000rpms and 3800rpms to the gas station

Again, I've never seen this color before on any 996TT (I'm told it's the only one?) but it reminds me a lot of the Batman Lambo. Stunning.

Hehe I know! Let it break in for 300 miles I only stalled if once (and I suck). It actually reminded me of when we did the Stage II originally and then after a few hundred miles of break in it began to behave somehwat normally. We still have that stage II one here in reserve! JWGT2 had to learn (his is even harder!) but we were told that this was the only one that would hold the force and work with the LWF It doesn't say 300miles of "unforgiving" but it should...

yeah right, you get what you pay for. upsolute sucks.
So it had Upsolute b4 it had Protomotive? no wonder if thats the case.. Todd would never tune a car up on the knock sensors and detonate.. thats simply not him. Also, with the protomotive set up.. u have to be responsible enough not to run pump gas at high boost( 1.3 bars or higher)...
since u have a greddy boost controller u choose the boost level u run... maybe someone was not running good gas liek he was supposed too???
Either way, she looks like a monster...
